Hi ladies... i have recently discovered my daughter is allergic to sudocrem. She kept having what i thought was nappy rash whenever i used it on her bum when she was newborn, so i stopped using it and used diprobase instead. Last week her bits were a bit red and the only barrier cream we had left was sudocrem, so thinking it wouldnt affect her i smothered her bits in the cream that night after her bath only to find the next morning she had badly broken out in angry red spots and her bum was red raw. It didnt seem to be bothering her though. We used a tesco's own brand of barrier cream but it didnt seem to be calming down, it only got worse! Last night i was getting her into her PJ's after bath time and i noticed the spots were seeping and bleeding! I made an emergency appointment at the doctors today and he told me it was unusual for babies to take an allergic reaction to barrier creams. (my partner and his brother were also allergic) He wasnt sure what barrier cream to prescribe as most of them all have the same ingredients so instead gave us a sterile cream to calm it down and gave us an other bottle if diprobase and told us just to keep moisturizing her skin.
Have any of you mums had the same issue? Did you find out which ingredient your little one was allergic to? I feel so sorry for her, it looks so painful but thankfully it doesnt seem to be bothering her!
