allowances etc

Do you mean the maternity allowance? You can put in a claim any time after 26 weeks and the earliest you can start receiving the money is once you reach 29 weeks.

HTH.

Depends what you are after! Maternity pay or allowance you can claim from 29 wks i think as shifter said. Maternity grant not sure how soon you can claim that but some people find they are more likely to be accepted for it after baby is born as they may received the higher element of child tax credits that can make them eligible for it if they weren't beforehand. Theres the new one coming in next year some sort of healthy eating grant but info on that seems to a be limited at the moment.

Child tax credits and child benefit you can't claim until baby is born and registered.

Don't forget you can now get the Health in Pregnancy Grant - ask your midwife about it - see here: https://www.nmc-uk.org/aArticle.aspx?ArticleID=3388
