Hi ladies,

Hope everyone is doing well. I've just had my 3rd miscarriage and was told that testing will most likely not bring me any answers.

I was wondering if any of you ladies on here who have had recurrent miscarriages (3 or more) have tried any alternatives to modern medicine and think it has worked or helped? We will be taking a break from TTC for a while while we get testing done but would like to start getting my body and mind ready.

Any suggestions that I could look into would be great.

Thanks!

Hi there,

I did not try it myself but I have heard lots of couples used accupuncture and it worked not only on this forum but also a friend of mine who had 4 mc then had a little boy on monday after concieving with accupunturists help (lol that soulds rude and its not what I meant). If you do a search on the forum you will find a journal about it too

Fortunately I have only had one miscarriage (fingers crossed) but have become a big believer in acupuncture/Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Although we tried a total of 12 cycles, the 2 cycles we were successful were the only 2 cycles I was receiving treatment. This last time, I've added chinese herbs. I had some spotting earlier on, and my acupuncturist gave me some herbs. A couple days later, the spotting stopped. My cycles became much more regular - not just the timing, but also the temperatures, etc.

I suggest reading a book called Making Babies to find out a little more. I like this book because it's written by both a reproductive endocrinologist and an acupuncturist. It doesn't focus on recurrent miscarriage, although it does touch on a particular diagnosis that is related to recurrent miscarriage (it's called a kidney deficiency - the book calls it "tired type". This is my type).

After taking TCM only half heartedly the first time around, once I got pregnant with my second (much faster the second time around with acupuncture and following the advice from the book), I was a convert and am not taking any chances. Even if it's bunk, which I conceive it may well be, why take chances if there's no harm?

It isn't hard science or anything, but even if it's a placebo effect, I'll take it! Plus it does relieve stress, and for me it made me feel more in control because I was doing something about it.

Good luck!

Thank you ladies, I will def. look into acupuncture.
