When we went to the FS to get our test results last month the doctor we saw (a registrar, not the consultant) told me we were unexplained and they wouldn't do anything else until we had been trying for 3 years. I thought I had PCOS because of my irregular ovulation and excess hair but he said I didn't "because you're not fat"!!
I got my notes from my GP as we were thinking of going private and after looking at the ultrasound results and my hormone levels I thought it was quite clear I had PCOS.
I went back and insisted on seeing the consultant who was very apologetic and said that yes, I absolutely had PCOS. He wants to give me a lap to check for scar tissue from my cyst removal in July and says he will start me on Clomid after that.
So girls, always make sure you ask for a 2nd opinion, you know your body and doctors aren't always right. I am thinking of lodging a formal complaint to protect other women who might not be as pushy as me and might have been left waiting another 18 months or paying £££s to a private clinic.
