I am so sorry you had such a poor LC experience. Im glad you are trying to find more info from other women, that shows you really want to continue. At day three it is normal for your milk to not be in yet. It is so hard, but the best advice I got was from my OB. Just keep trying for two weeks, you will want to quit and think you are doing it wrong a million times, but it will start to get easier. My daughter had lost nearly 15% at her one week appointment, but never was told to supplement, just to come back again in a week, and she gained a ton.
Your baby is going to want to nurse a lot at first, that will help your milk establish. Dont mess with a schedule or thinking they are feeding too often or at the wrong time. They may be sleepy so you might need to tickle them to keep them awake to nurse. I used light breast compressions while she drank. Have and use nipple balm, it is your new best buddy. Eat lots, drink lots, find a comfortable spot to nurse and if you can another LC or lactation guide.
