Am I being dense?

This might sound really stupid but if DH and I are every other day regardless of whether I should be ovulating at the time or not should I still be temping or using OPKs or CBFM?

Been trying for nearly 2 years and assumed that every other day (as recommended by FS) would cover all bases. Is this right or am I missing something obvious?

All I know is my consultant told me we should be 4 to5 times a week. Which balances out to every other day. We do that throughout the month, although I`m using FM now and when it says we are higher risk of getting preg we every day sometimes twice. I know its not good to do it too often as doesnt get chance to build up much, and also if u leave it too long it can become sluggish and lazy.
Only thing we can do is try our best and make lifestyle as good as possible.

some people follow the smep which suggests every other day and then 3 times in a row when you ov- but it does seem likely that you would cover all bases with every other night right through cycle doesnt it?Guess if that is what the fs recomends then it should be fine?

Wasn't sure if we should be 'backing up' with something else. Might invest in a CBFM just to sure!

I really don't think you need to do anyhting else. Those opk just make it all the more clinical.I tried to concieve for over two years, found out I had tubal factor infertility in jan after a lap and dye. Gave up trying and just waited for my ivf. Amazingly we got a BFP early may. I have to say we hardly had sex at all that month, just a handful of times.Just saying that its not necessary to time it exactly to ovulation. As long as it is three days before that is FINE. The boys just hang around in the tubes waiting.My mate was trying for a girl and they were having sex 5 days before as female sperm lives longer. It worked as well. There is a reason the doctors tell you to take a more relaxed approach and that temping and using kits are not helpful. I realise looking back that they just make you more stressed and take away the fun as well. Wishing you well and if you want to leave it three days between sometimes you can. It won't make any difference. Wishing you lots of fairy dust and happy bonking.

Ah, it would be lovely to hold up that "every other day" rule throughout the whole process, but we've been TTC for almost 4 years, and I have to say...it just gets too bloody exhausting! We BD every other day in the week that rounds ovulation. But apart from that, pffft!

I still chart, but it's bascially to see what my body is doing. Charting is a good idea as it helps you to read what your body is doing. You can determine if you O every cycle, what days are your most fertile, how your body changes and etc. I mean it's not necessary, but I find it a comfort....something that I have control of in this crazy out of control journey. If you get what I mean.

Congrats on your Brambletess!!!!! I have to say I'm favouring the more relaxed approach as I think if I was temping/opk ing everyday I'd be barking by now, but who knows, next week I might have more pronounced baby fever again and be buying all the predictor stuff I can find.
