Hi ladies

I've not been one to worry about fetal movement as I have a very active baby. However, when I went to my mw on thurs I expressed my concerns that I hadn't felt like I had grown at all since my last appointment.

2 mw's measured me and I hadn't grown, in fact at almost 35 wks I was measuring 31 and had just fallen off the graph they plot the measurements on and you could see from 28wks when I was first measured I had begun to tail off the line into the white area. My mw didn't seem worried, but the other mw did. In the endit was decided I would go back in 2 wks rather than 3.

As I left my mw said to me I need to keep an eye on movement and said I should call triage if anything should change. This worried me a bit as it was like they felt something could be up but because of protocol they couldn't refer me straight to the hospital.

My baby has a routine, I just know when she is going to be active and awake. She is always awake at 5am kicking me silly. I woek at 5 for a wee and she was sleeping, I gave her a poke cuz I was surprised she wasn't awake and hardly got much of a reaction. Since being up from 9 I can honestly say I have probably felt on 10-20% of her normal movement. I had my brekkie, a cold drink, I've just demolished a massive piece of cake witha weak coffee and still she is not herself. I've googled reduced movement and it advises having food and laying down for 2 hrs and counting movements. I've been laid down since 10am in bed just watching tv and think she's moved all of 5 times. Not big movement either. Now I am worried. Do you think I should call triage and see what they say? Because of the lack of growth too?x

Definitely, call them and they'll probably want you to go in for monitoring..

At the very least you will be reassured and that's no bad thing

I don't think you're being paranoid at all, I just think that because you've been told to monitor it yourself you are doing is all.

Worrying about bubs is perfectly natural after all.. Let's hope everything is aye-okay, let us know how you get on. :hugs:

phone them jus to put ur mind at ease hun :)
do u have a doppler??
xx

yes, I would ring them - they'll probably want you in for monitoring.
:hugs: hopefully everything is fine and baby is just having a quiet day, but it's best to get checked

just wanted to say babies do go quieter now and again as iv gone through this lots. Its prob nothing to worry about but just for your sanity give them a call. They will prob get u to go in and put you on a trace. My baby has no pattern so im always worried, also my baby was measuring small but had a growth spurt at the last scan (im 36 weeks wed) and due to have another growth scan wed.Its such a worry especially when they keep on emphasising patterns and movement (think i turning neurotic lol) Im sure you will be fine xxx

they will be really helpful if you call them hun they will put her on a monitor which will annoy her and then she will definately move!! i would be like you though i worry if mine doesnt move when he normally does even though i know for a fact some days he deliberatly switches his routine around !!!!
good luck let us know how it goes x

I've been through this the last couple of weeks so can empathise. It's probably nothing to worry about but it doesn't hurt to call triage and they will probably ask you to come in so that they can do a trace. My baby was very lazy when they put a trace on me, in the end they gave me some lucozade and the baby started moving. I went back the next day and the trace was normal after a decent lunch. I would say my movements have reduced from 30-40 day to 15-10 a day, a big drop but they are not concerned. The consultant told me that as long as you get 10 in a waking day they are not worried. I understand you have the added concern of growth. Perhaps if you go to Triage they may refer you for a growth scan. Fundal height is a useful measurement but it isn't fool proof especially as MW's often measure from different points. It can also be skewed by the babies position. My baby has a habit of sticking it's bum out right by my belly button - if the baby is doing that when they measure me they have found my bump has grown by 4cm, next time it has gone back down because the baby is in a different place.

Good luck xxx

Update

Well I phoned triage after I washed and dressed and they told me to go in.

Was monitored for 40mins. HB was fine and LO decided to wake up after half hour. I was measured my 2 mws there and I'm measuring 30-31 wks so they requested me an urgent scan which I should be called in for within 48hrs. After the scan I will be monitored again and have my scan results assessed at the AAU. They seemed a little concerned I haven't put on a great deal of weight and that at 35wks I'm measuring behind, especially when I am quite tall, even though quite slim. So just got to wait for a call to go have scan and see what's going on. I think I'm just having a small baby but we'll see. X

Glad they sent you for a scan. It is bollocks what your midwife said. I have been going to FAU (fetal assessment unit) for 3 weeks now and people are reffered all the time for CTG's and growth scans.

I'd be inclined to mention what your midwife said about going back in 2 weeks instead of 3 because that is not a very good level of care when there is possible growth restrictions.

Hope the scan is perfectly normal :) x x

i went through the exact same as you 2 weeks ago. everythin turned out ok, it was to do with my weight and the position of the baby....im sure u will b e fine, chin up

good luck :) hope the scan goes well :) im sure shes fine and just being cheeky
