Am i being stupid?

First of all - :wave: I'm new to this section but have been engaged for 17 months!

Anyway, me and my OH had planned to get married next year but obviously now i'm pregnant we're pretty certain we can't afford it! We only had the church booked and haven't paid a penny yet so it's not as though we'll lose out on anything.

Now, as money is going to be tight for a while when LO is born, we've been considering changing the date to 2012 - is that silly? Family/Friends already know we was due to get married next year but if they ask what we're doing and we say we've changed it to 2012 - will they think we're thinking too far in advance? I've got it in my head they'll think we're daft for doing so

I doubt i'd be able to book/pre-book anything this year but we could atleast start saving so we'd be able to have the deposits for when they will accept bookings - if you get me?

it's never to early to research. and venues will sometimes pencil you in until a more appropriate time to pay a deposit and officially book.

It is not silly. A lot of brides prefer a long engagement to fully prepare for the big day and also to save up for that dream wedding ;-) u can enjoy the time as a family with your new baby son/daughter and knw there is no rush to become consumed with wedding plans. U have a good amount of time to plan.
And it dont matter what ppl think anyway. Its YOUR day ;-)

i definitely don't think it's silly honey! by the time we get married we will have been engaged for over 3.5years!! i say start planning, saving and pencilling dates congratulations xx

We've decided we will go ahead with it in 2012 which as you say, it gives up plenty of time to get everything sorted for our dream day Plus our daughter will be able to walk down the aisle with me - that's a huge thing for my OH, bless him
