Am I crazy?

When I was 23 years old, I had a fibroid the size of a grapefruit in my uterus. They performed a myomectomy and removed the tumor. This consisted of having to do an incision on my uterus to remove it. I'm now 39 years old and pregnant for the first time. My doctor told me today that I have to get the medical records for that procedure because depending on how they did the incision, I may need to deliver by C-section rather than vaginally.

I find myself almost preferring a C-section. Is that crazy? I already have the scar. And I feel like I kinda know what to expect with that and it doesn't scare me at all, whereas I'm terrified of natural labor.

Anyone else actually prefer C-section??

I think there's definitely times when your pregnant, you think a c-section has it's bonuses. Knowing when your having the baby, being able to plan around it, knowing roughly what to expect etc...but for me, a natural labour is what I want as recovery is usually faster.
You know what's right for you and your baby though honey :flower: go with what you think.

I use midwives, but while visiting my doctor on a totally non-baby related topic the other day, he was saying that he thinks there is a certain "elegance to planned C-sections. You have get your nails done, have a massage before hand. just be calm and comfortable...". His words! LOL! THIS from the man who delivered my brothers and I into the world and wouldn't give my Mom a sniff of drugs. Looks like time has made him more mellow. :)

One of my worst fears (aside from an unhealthy baby or problem with me) is a C-section. The idea of surgery, and the recovery time needed (I was out of the hospital with both my kids in under an hour and at home; I was working out again at 4 days post-partum - to an adjusted degree, of course) is enough to make me want to vomit in my shoes. I can't deal with that and I would never want to if I didn't have to. While I want the opposite of you, I am expressing my desires as a way of saying that I think women should be allowed to have their baby any way they please (as long as it is safe, of course.) Friends of mine LOVED staying in the hospital in baby and just snuggling and bonding and having people visit. Not for me - except the snuggling, of course. :) Others have wanted C sections and gone ahead with them and been happier for it. Happy Mom, happy baby!

I was terrified of c sections but then ended up with an emergency one with my first, then I chose an elective with my second and it was amazing!

I was out of the hospital in less than 24 hours, I was up and about doing everything as normal the very next day, I was out walking, carrying my baby, I had zero pain and didn't even need a single pain killer!

This time I'm scheduling another c section and I honestly can't wait. My experiences have been wonderful and the elective especially was so calm and lovely.

You just need to do what's right for you. If a c section would make things less stressful for you and it's an option, then why not.

Ive had two c sections second was planned I loved knowing my babys birthday before he was born

The thought of a c-section scares me too but like the others have said, for an organiser and someone who likes to be in control, it has it's appeal to me. However, I am learning to let go of my need for control over everything, pregnancy is like that you can't control it so therefore no point in me being able to control the birth.
Do what you think is right for you. It's your body and your precious baby :)
