lol!!

ive seen a few threads on here about people who give there babies different oz's of milk throughout the day.. like say give them 9oz of a morning... 4 oz throughout the day then 9oz again before bed..

is that the way your supposed to do it? Well, i know theres not a 'right' way, but is that the best way to do it?

I just give maisie 5oz whenever she wants it, i dont calculate how many oz's she has during the day or how many bottles she takes.. shes putting on weight thats all that matters right?

I would say so, that's exactly what we do with Ethan. As long as she has had enough and isn't still hungry I wouldnt worry about how much she is having and when.

Only reason I give an extra ounce for first and last feeds is she goes 12hrs without a bottle and it just seemed right that she might want that extra ounce to help her go longer at her last feed and the extra ounce in the morning because she'd be hungry for not eating for so long!

She rarely takes the whole lot, I just do it so at least I know she's had what she needs and wants as 12hrs seems a long time to not eat!

Thanks girls x

I offer her 5oz... most of the time she wont finish that , leave an oz or half an oz.. but sometimes she does drink it all and wants more, so then i just make up another 2/3oz bottle and give her that...

Should i be offering her 6oz if she finishes some of her bottles or just carry on what im doing because she doesnt finish all her bottles?

Umm i would offer her 6oz's just in case she is still hungry. No harm in trying :D
xx

The only reason i give 8oz bottles at bedtime is because Brooke is weaned, and taking less milk during the daytime

Your fine as you are

i only give 6-8oz at night because he sleeps mosttimes from say 10pm to 5am or 11pm till 6am so thats like 7 hours..he takes between 6-8oz if he fed not long before he wont take it all and will wake up more during the night

I'd say wait until she's draining the majority of her bottles before upping the ounces.

Sometimes Violet will still leave 3 or 4oz's and sometimes she'll drain the lot. But most often she leaves between half an ounce - 2oz

Babies intake is based on a 24hrs [eriod not individual feeds. If your baby gets enough milk during the 24hr period then they are fine. So don't worry about it, giving more at certain feeds doesn't make any actual difference. You could give them 6oz bottles 8 times a day, in a 24hr period, to ensure they get enough but it won't make any difference how you spread the amount of milk out hun, hope that makes sence!

Bascially if they want 24oz in 24 hrs you could give them 1oz bottles every hour or 2 8oz feeds and 4 2oz feeds in 24 hrs. As long as they get enough milk in the day they will be fine xxx

i montior how much milk annabelle drinks because its never very much so need to make sure its enough although she is gaining weight well! she is a proper chubb!!

i give smaller bottles in the morning as i do a drink of milk of 4oz when she gets up then i do a 4oz botle that makes her cereal and then she finishes the rest its the only way i can get the milk down her

Leo only ever takes what he needs. (or wants lol) He only usually downs an 8 oz bottle at his 4am feed but thats because hes gone from 8pm until 4am. His last feed at 8pm is usually a normal 5/6 oz but he also has baby rice around 6pm now after his 5 pm feed....your doing fine hun.

I make up all the bottles to 7oz because thats the most she will drink. Sometimes she has the lot sometimes she only has 5oz. Once she starts draining the bottles a bit more I will up it to 8oz. I waste a lot of milk doing it that way but she takes what she wants and I know shes not left wanting more.

Im sure your doing it right hun.

like everyone said hun yr doing fine xxx

i was watching what luisa was taking cos i was getting confused every day is different like today for instance she had a 8oz bottle at 9.30am, and 8oz bottle at 2pm a 4oz bottle at 6pm and a 7oz bottle at 9pm.. so 4 bottles 27ozs

yesterday she had a bottle at 6am 5ozs a bottle at 9am 7ozs a bottle at 1pm 5ozs a bottle at 6pm 7ozs and a bottle at 9pm 5ozs so 5 bottles 29ozs

The right way too do it is go with you & your baby hun! no other way! no-one knows what baby wants and needs more than mummy does your doing a perfect job xx

I just feed Annie 4ozs through the day roughly every 4 hours, but she goes mad for food at night and normal has extra before bed.

I would just give Maisie what she wants when she wants it. I think as long as Annie is satisfied after her bottle and putting on weight she can dictate when she wants to feed.

I feed him til he's had enough. During the day at some feeds he only takes 2oz then as the day goes on he takes a bit more. He takes a bigger bottle before bed sometimes 5-8ozs.

Aslong as she's putting on weight she's fine xx

Same

I just give him what he wants when he wants, at the minute I make up 7oz, he barely drinks the lot, but its better to make up a little more than not have enough, as they do have these growth spurts etc!

I give grady 6oz bottles every time. Sometimes he finishes the whole thing, sometimes he'll leave an ounce. I don't give him more or less at anytime. He takes what he wants.
You're doing fine hun! :)
