My Lo was 8lbs 4oz at birth and I was breastfeeding and then switched to formula she also has dropped to 7lbs 6oz went we went to the doc at 4 days old. When I took her to her 1 month checkup she was actually 1 month and 10 days old she was 11lbs 13oz but hadn't grown very much she was in the 15th percentile, I told the dr she was eating every 2 1/2 to 4 hours and was eating up to 4 ounces a feeding she said that was alot.

Now I am concerned that she is going to be obese, or that maybe I am overfeeding? I am short (5'1) so I figure she will probably end up being short to.
Should I be concerned?
Am I overfeeding?
Also she doesn't sleep a whole lot she is up most of the day and usually doesn't completely go to sleep until about 12am every night.

I know lots of babies - many of them exclusively breastfed who gain lots of weight quickly and then level off and don't gain for a while. I wouldn't worry about it. The basic drive during the first year is to eat and grow. They will gain a lot the first year, less the second and even less the third.

You have to remember the doctor goes by a chart of the average for babies your baby's age. Average weight, height, how much they eat. Many times people don't fit into these neat charts.

If you overfed her she'd throw it back up. If you underfed her she'd scream for more.

If she's reasonable content, peeing\pooping well, gaining - try not to worry.

HTH :)

You may want to encourage a "bed time" with a routine which will signal to her it's sleepy time. Turn off the TV, dim the lights, have a relaxing bath, rock her or some stories, before bed bottle. It'll give her the hint this is sleepy time. Keep the day time more active, bright and noisy. She'll figure it out.

Please don't be concerned about overfeeding at such a young age, give them
whatever they need! Also it's normally for baby to 'nap' during day & sleep properly only at night. You'll probably find the nighttime sleep comes forward a few hours in a few weeks

i wouldn't worry about how much your LO is drinking as she will throw up if she is too full. Also the night time sleep does come forward gradually, my LO used to be up until about 10.30 every night now it is more like 7.30/8.00

same as the others. But you really do need to encourage her to sleep during the day. My LO is 7months and still naps between most feeds x

Thanks for the reassurance ladies! I will definitely try some of your tips!
