Am I going to miscarry?

Okay so I'm pretty worried about this pregnancy.. This is my second pregnancy, my first was completely normal and I have a healthy 2 year old.. My husband and I took a pregnancy test on August 21st and it was positive.. Went to the doc and she said that based on my LMP our due date would be April 27, 2012.. Which would make me 8 weeks.. We had our first ultrasound this past friday (8 weeks) and it did not show a fetus.. There was a gestational sac, and a yolk sac.. She told us that I could only be 5 weeks along or the pregnancy will not continue.. I was experiencing morning sickness and tender breasts, but now they have gone away completely.. I have headaches.. We are scheduled for another ultrasound in 2 weeks.. But I'm not feeling pregnant anymore.. Could I be losing the baby?

I was told at nearly 8 weeks I only had a sac. Did an U/S 3 days later elsewhere and there was the baby measuring 7W5d with a strong little heart.

Unless your periods are SUPER regular, dates based off LMP are really more of guesses, and being off by even a few days in the first few weeks can make a huge difference.

Pregnancy symptoms also often come and go, so stay positive My thoughts will be with you as you wait for the next ultrasound!

My mother almost had a late miscarriage with me at 23 weeks. The doctor tried to talk her into having an abortion because of the risk of bleeding if she did miscarry so late in her pregnancy. She chose complete bedrest with her feet elevated above her head for over a month. I turned out to be a healthy baby and hopefully you'll still be pregnant by your next ultrasound.

I have VERY irregular periods, and when I found out I was pregnant the dr figured I was about 6-7 weeks along...went in for an ultrasound and I was only 5 weeks along. Keep hope...as long as your HCG levels aren't dropping it should be ok. And when going for an U/S the heartbeat can't usually be detected until 6 weeks. (I was 5w6d when they saw my son's heartbeat..but I had to remain VERY still and hold my breath!!! thats how TINY they are at that age) BEST OF LUCK!!!
