Am I over feeding? Help please :(

Oscar is now 4 days old - over the past 24 hours he has been destroying a 3oz bottle every 2-3 hours (mostly every 2 hours)

This seems an awful lot for a young baby am i doing something wrong or is this normal?

I was worried that my baby was eating too much too but my doctor says its fine, as long as you pay attention to his signs of being full and he doesn't seem to be in any discomfort he should be able to eat as much as he wants (my hv on the other hand seems to think i'm gonna make her obese :L ) if your worried about it you could try giving him something to suck for comfort - if he isn't happy with that and still roots you'll know for certain he's genuinely hungry and doesn't want to just suck hope I helped

My Oscar was doing this too. Was up at 5oz bottles around 3/4weeks. We ended up having to buy some different bottles to give him 8oz bottles later on as our dr browns couldn't handle that much! If it makes you feel better he was born just over the 75th percentile an has dropped to just below the 50th (though I don't trust the scale at a particular centre, so according to mine and Mothercare's scales he's between the 50th and the 75th).

Its a far better place to be in than a baby that's not interested. I've had them both so trust me.

Thank you ladies, this all feels so new to me even though i've done it before! It has been 7 years though lol

He already has a dummy to suck on so i guess he is genuinely hungry, i think i just hit panic stations last night when i actually realised how many bottles he had, had.

totally normal, hell slow down hun, Jonathan was draining 3 oz around that time too, but hes really slowed down, hes been eating 5.5 oz bottles for the past 4 weeks

He seems to have slowed down today - he's been having 3oz every 3-4 hours, he's sleeping much better too doesn't seem restless at all

I'll stop panicking over his feeding now lol

haha, its okay i panicked for the first month or so about how much he was eating, always worried i was over feeding.. if hes hungry he will push bottle out. i just go with him now and its much more relaxed for me!

My son ate 6 oz every 2-3 hours since birth. Unless your baby seems to be gassy, is spitting up, etc then no need to be worried. Just sounds like he is hungry.
