{I am reposting here, since I am not entirely sure which forum I fall under. Thanks for all the help!}

Hello! I'm somewhat of a newbie around here, though I've been posting on and off for a few months. My DH and I have been TTC since October 2012, though some months we try less than others. Given my age (32) and our lack of success, we decided to start down the road of seeking help from an RE. We went to a seminar at a clinic recommended by my GP and they went ahead and tested my AMH levels for free. I just got the results - 1.03. She told me that they consider anyone under 1.37 as having the potential for having lower ovulatory response {or something along those lines . . . }. Can someone explain these results to me? According to a chart I had seen elsewhere (https://www.advancedfertility.com/amh-fertility-test.htm), normal is considered anything between 1 and 3.

My DH is submitting a sample for SA tomorrow. We don't have our appointment until October 7 (I had to reschedule our earlier appointment because of a work conflict ). We suspect DH has low sperm count (he was born with an undescended testicle and we recently did an at home sperm check that came back negative). At this point, I am just anxious to get some answers!

I'd like to help as I'ma low AMH'er too, but it looks like you've been measured on the other scale to me (there are 2)

I'm 33 with an AMH of 2.3 - normally at my age, you'd be looking at around 20-30 so i'm really low. Have you had you FSH tested? If that's not high there's less to worry about.

My DH also has shocking morphology & motility so we've been doubly blessed.

As long as you know what your AMH is, then your meds can be adjusted to get the best response possible. I did short protocol this time as the downregging seems to shut my ovaries down so much they don't wake up again. I got 5 eggs this time, all mature which is good for me.

SK x

There are different scales for measuring AMH. mine is 1.38 which is very low, my scale was 1-10 with anything below 1 is menopause

Congrats on 5 eggs! :happydance:

I think I am being measured on the other scale. My understanding is that the US numbers are on the ng/ml scale. The confusing part is that even on that scale, doctors apparently classify low/normal/high differently! We go in for our full workup on October 7, so I'll have my FSH tested then. Fingers crossed!

it seems to be ng/ml scale

Interesting. My doctor said they consider anything below 1.37 ng/ml to be low, but not necessarily "very low," and anything above it would be normal. But then I understand that too high (I saw one place that said over 3), could be an indication of PCOS.

it's a different scale I think, 1-3 and anything below 1 is low and anything above 3 could be PCOS. on my scale they expect to see something like 5-7 as mid range indicating good egg reserve.

although it's a new test and people interpret it differently. I was told that my AMH of 1.38 does not correspond to my follicle count which was 9. with this follicle count they would expect higher AMH but then my doc said because I was taking Chinese herbs they sometimes lead to increased number of empty follicles that could explain the follicle number. although I prefer to think that my AMH is just not quite right (wishful thinking)
