we are currently on the waiting list for IUI and was given a test day my name was put down called AMH test anyways today got letter throw the door saying

"anti-Mullerian hormone level test (AMH) to check your ovarian reserve was 39.7pmol/l."

what the hell does this mean looked on google.... is this bad good? what i have pcos. and some other problems but no idea what this is ???

help anyone!!!

Hi Lynne,

I am pasting a chart indicating the values. I think ur level is within optimal fertility range. But u can still check with your RE. Cheers!

Ovarian Fertility Potential pmol/L ng/mL

Optimal Fertility 28.6 - 48.5 4.0 - 6.8
Satisfactory Fertility 15.7 - 28.6 2.2 - 4.0
Low Fertility 2.2 - 15.7 0.3 - 2.2
Very Low / undetectable 0.0 - 2.2 0.0 - 0.3
High Level > 48.5 >6.8

thank you hun still not sure what it means is the test to see if i have any eggs or is it to see if the iui might work? etc?

It is to check how well u will respond to fertility drugs and is an indicator of ur ovarian reserves.

Ovarian reserve = how many eggs are left in your ovaries. Just google it. there is enough and more on the net about it

Those are good levels, means you have lots of eggs!!!

Lots of luck for ur IUI, I just had mine today!

thanks hun we've been put on 12month waiting list now.

Yeah, Glasgow waiting lists are long, we had the same problem & chose to go private. Hope you don't have to wait as long as they say though.

i wouldn't know our hospital isn't in glasgow lol its outside glasgow but i bet most city centres would be mega high lists. hopefully wont wait to long but ah well one of those things, we're saving our money for private IVF

Think Scotland is just generally rubbish for waiting lists; we were at the RAH in Paisley originally, when we thought we would need IVF & we were told 2 years wait!!!

We're now at the GCRM in Glasgow which has been fab so far, I recommend it if you do decide to go private!!! Apparently it has the best IVF results in Scotland.

oh right klkl what is there pricing on ivf etc? we're getting 6rounds, i thought 12months was pretty long but now tbh i think its worth the wait, if we were able to get ivf on NHS we would wait.

i would hope a private clinic would be brilliant lol paying all that money i would want a fab experience also lol

6 rounds is really good!

Think their IVF is about £3000, but the IUI is £700, so quite a big difference in price! Saying that, you have to see a consultant first which costs £160, all the wee costs add up.

yeah understand think we priced them up before and was like £5K+ we're hoping not to need it but RE said its likely we will :(

Hi Hun
your amh is really good so you should respond really well to drugs and get lots of eggs. However for anyone else my result was 13.28 low fertility so I started on the highest level of stimming drugs and still got 11 eggs with ivf the rest is history so it's not be and end all as it's still a new test x Good luck Lynne x

aww thank you for sharing your story, did you get IVF or IUI? what drugs were used to stimilate eggs?

We also have a child so had to pay 4k for ivf, thank god it worked 1st time ! I started on 450 iu of fostimon similiar to gonal f but this was gradually reduced stimmed for 9 days

so i have no idea what your talking about lol sorry only really know about Clomid and HCG shots during IUI... would you mind explaining to my educated self?
