AMH test and scan

Hello,

I have my initial consoltation for ivf with icsi in two weeks.

When I received my pack it said I needed an AMH blood test, which I had on Friday, and a scan on day 2-6 of my cycle. As I had already had a scan recently, I asked my gynochologist if I needed another or if I could use the results of his one. He gave me a print out of the results of his one and said that should be fine.

I re-read the pack yesterday and it says it should be on days 2-6 to check how many follicles start developing before ovulation so they can use that info, with the AMH, to get the right drug dosage. My other scan was nearer the end of my cycle.

I am so cross with myself for not thinking about it properly and just going with what someone else told me. I can't get it done before my appointment now because it doesn't fit in with my cycle.

I will ring the clinic on Monday, but do you think they'll want to push my appointment back or do you think they can arrange for it to be done after?

Thanks for reading. I know this is really a pointless post as I am ringing tomorrow - think its pre-appointment nerves kicking in.

It's the pelvic assessment scan they want you to have isn't it?

Sorry I can't help with the appointment question, I think it will all depend on who your consultant is. I had my scan done about 10 days before our initial consultation and he did refer to the findings during the consultation as depending on what they find it can affect the type of treatment you have (e.g. they told me I would be on the short protocol due to that fact I had polycystic ovaries which was picked up during the scan).

Just give them a call tomorrow and see what they say I know some of the tests can be carried out after the initial consultation (some of ours were), I am just not sure if the pelvic assessment scan is one of them.

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, I think that must be the one. It does sound like they will need it before hand then. My own fault for not reading the documents properly!!
