Hi! We got our angelcare monitor finally :) I am so excited about it. My question is this: baby will be sleeping in her bassinet in our bedroom for the first several months, and then we'll move her to her crib in the next room. I definitely plan to use the monitor when she's not in the same room as us at night, but should I set up the angelcare monitor in the bassinet too (even though it's in the same room as us) or is that just me being too paranoid??

We used it while we were all in the same room. It has a little light that flashes whilst movement is being detected and when you wake in the night and look over and see that tiny flash it is soooooo reassurring!! Best money we spent that monitor!!!

Hi, when u sat bassinet... is that a moses basket? We have the angel care monitor and have Leo sleeping in our room but he sleeps in his cot rather than moses basket. We woyldnt be able to set it up in our moses basket because it needs to be open ubderneath for the cable to run out iykwim?

U can have it set to tic or just flash, we have it so the light flashes and like sausages said it is really reassuring

We were told if we were using it with a moses basket to put a piece of wood underneath the basket and put the sensor mat on the wood. It will still pick up movement this way. I havent tried it yet though x x

Id def. use it - can you imagine if anything happened, obviously how devasted, but also how guilty you'd feel for not using it?
I dont mean to be blunt but had to say it to explain what I meant!

My SIL didnt use the sensor bit but I just couldnt imagine having it and not using it with the sensor pad.
I have however stopped using it since DS went into a bed, at about 16 months and will use it for this baby.

I did manage to use it in a moses basket, but just ran the wire underneath and out the foot end.

in the instruction leaflet it tells you that you dont need wood under it if it is going in a moses basket only when it goes into a cot/cotbed. have tested it as my friend has just had a baby and it works perfectly without the wood x

I'm gonna be using mine and she's gonna be in the same room as me.

I just see it as extra peace of mind.

Thanks hun, that saves a trip to b and q! I couldnt not use the sensor mat i would be a wreck i worry anyway x x

im going to be the same mine is all set up already. i used to worry realy bad about my friends baby when i used to look after her over night (when she was only a couple months old) so i dread what i would be like with my own if i didnt have the movement sensor x

Can i ask whats so good about it? iv got a standard monitor but this sounds better i think? dose it monitor your babys movement too then? sorry to sound thick! is it v expensive too? i paranoid about my LO already so god knows what im going to be like when s/he is born x

It's got the sound monitor like normal, but it also has a pad that goes under their matress. As they move/breath in their sleep the pad picks that up. If they stop moving/breathing for 20 seconds i think it is then an alarm goes off so you can run in and see what's up. :)

It's currently £80 in argos for the angelcare but we got purs off ebay for £31+postage. There are other versions tho.. tommee tippee do 1 which I think is £50ish in argos.

Ours was about £70 i think, but that was 2 years ago. Try amazon, they're usually pretty cheap.

Yeah, £70 in amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Angelcare-...W5G8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1286569258&sr=8-2

yes cheers iv already been on and saw! im very tempted to get one! x

You will NOT regret it, honestly. Some things you buy for baby you will look at in a years time and go "Eh?! What was the point?!" but this is not one of them. The peace of mind they provide is incredible.

(no, i don't work for them. )

Thanks sausages :haha: and can i say what a beauty your dd is! x

thanks for all the replies!! I will definitely have to set it up in the bassinet then (which is a little different than a moses basket, by the way. moses baskets aren't nearly as popular here in the US as they are in the UK for some reason). Not sure if i'll have to use wood underneath, but I will test it out and see. :)

wow just had a look on ebay and looks like you can get a great deal on one...I have it on my baby shower gift list but and if it doesnt get picked up there then I will buying it from Ebay!

Iv had a look on ebay but it was more than amazon? £75 on ebay and amazon £70 unless im looking in the wrong place?
