Another Month Off before IVf?

it's so much for pressure you babe ...it's hard to advise you as i know right now work is not easy to get in this economy but then for us a baby is not either :(...

for sure life will be way more easy if our ttc journey will be like everyone else with no problems or obstacles to surmount ...we have a lot of "IF" in our plate ...

Hi CS

Is it not possible for you to phone on CD1 to book in for your drugs appointment as this will probably happen when? around day 20? If you explained to the hospital would they not be accommodating of you?

Glad to hear appointment has changed, hopefully you will catch this cycle in time. Let us know how it goes.

I don't know what else to say about your work, it seems grossly unfair. If you are finding it hard to cope then maybe some time out would be good. Work is obviously exsaberating problem. I know its not that easy though and might make your job feel less secure.

Wishing you all the best

I"m feeling lots better thanks, Hays. I got a cancellation. Not sure if they would have been accommodating if they had no cancellations but hey, its all done now. Something positive, finally.

Its a very strange office I work for. Borderline unpleasant, if I'm honest. I am now worried that some selfish bitch has gone and booked the first week in May off even though I have been saying for weeks that I would most likely need a couple of weeks off at the start of May but would not know for sure until after my appointment. She just went ahead and booked it anyway.

Have had it up to here (points to forehead) with selfish people. When I told her I had said a million times I probably need that time off she just shrugged. Did not give a shit at all.

Wishing you all the best too, Bramble.

Fingers crossed, Monday will be good. Just to discuss blood tests I think, ai. Not sure what else its for.

The most annoying thing, Miel, is that they all have kids. They had no problem having kids. They pretend to understand but they don't. Do they really want me to postpone treatment simply because they are expecting me to fit in my IVF around everybody else's holidays?

Am so very tempted to just get myself signed off work. The stress of trying to please them, trying to get on with my arsehole of a co-worker and trying for a baby is too much. It really is.

Hey Curly Sue,

Just wanted to say I feel your pain... I am a bit of a workaholic and I hate the public sector mentallity that you are entitled to a certain amount of sick leave and I would never ever take the piss. But think of it like this, if you broke your leg and needed to take some time off you would just have to do it no matter what other people in the team were doing. IF you got called for Jury service (which I don't think you would as you work in the law I think but you know what I mean), you wouldn't have a choice about it. The timing of your treatment is out of your control, it will happen when it happens and you can't control it. So tell them to stick it! I hear what you are saying about redundancies but there are some things that are more important and your family and your sanity are more important than whether or not there is cover for you at work,

Its time to start being selfish and focusing on yourself - fuck em all! They aren't worth it....

I'm glad you got a cancellation CS - hopefully you'll get going nice and prompt after that. When you know your exact dates, I'd just tell your manager you have to go for an operation and you have no control over the dates. Tell him/her you need the time off end of story and you'll take it as annual leave as your first preference, or sick leave if she/he won't accommodate you.

I'm lucky in that EC is done at my clinic Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday and ET is done Thursday/Friday, so I know that I can book a whole week off and be done with it. You should be okay to return to work after a couple of days post ET as long as you're on light duties. Last time I considered taking the TWW off work too, but the nurses and the FS at the clinic told me there is no increased chance of success by lazing around the house, and as long as I'm not lifting anything heavy or doing anything strenuous then I'll be fine - what will happen will happen is basically what they said. I have told my manager that I'm having an operation during my annual leave at the end of this month, and that my GP has ordered light duties for my first two weeks back at work. I don't have any really heavy equipment, but it's carrying my testing equipment, laptop, and such like into people's homes - which can be up loads of stairs - that I've had to put a temporary hold on.

I hope your office start to grow a conscience and think of other people's feelings for a change. I hate selfish people - what makes them think they are more important than anybody else???

Good luck for your appointment

Thanks Maz and Bramble. Thing is, though, they know exactly what I would need the time off for. There would be no point in lying. I'm just going to have it anyway. If they say no then I am going to get a note from the hospital, like a doctor's note, which is something I know they can do.

I have four weeks of annual leave to take from May. I am not going on holiday this year so I have decided that I am going to take my two week holiday when I have my first cycle. I am going to go to a nice little place afterwards to have a nice few days with OH. That will be our holiday. Its just the first week that might be a problem.

I am due my period on around 18th/19th. I have worked out dates, etc, and it would be very likely, from that, that I would need the first working week in May off. That bitch has gone and booked it off and I honestly feel like just smacking her or something because she KNEW I needed it and she could take her holidays at any time.

I just wonder why she would do that if not to be intentionally obtuse...

Good news on cancellation , but FOR FUCKS SAKE on the bitch for booking it off??thats just dam right rude?????????????????????

Well, if you get a letter from the hospital they'll have to give you the time off legally I think anyway. If they need to cancel someone else's holidays to cover you then that's not your fault.

When is your appointment or have you had it already and I missed it?

Appointment is on Monday. its just really pissed me off that she has done that. She has only been there since November. I have said time and time again I probably need those weeks off and yet she has gone and booked it.

"Sorry," she said, "I've booked something. I can't cancel it."

I know for a fact she hasn't booked anything. "It's my boyfriend's birthday."

Do I even look like I care? Part of me just thinks "Fuck the lot of them" but I can't be out of work and doing IVF. If a baby did come of it I need to be able to support it.

I just can't believe that people can be so thoughtless, you know? What's more important? Her taking a few days off for her boyfriends birthday or this?

I am just so fecked off with the lot of them. I can't have time off in June. I can' thave time off in July. Someone has booked FOUR WEEKS OFF in August so I can't have August either, by the looks of it.
