antenatal appointment whats that all about!?

So in my first pregnancy I just saw the midwife throughout. Im 15 weeks with my second and had a letter from the hospital saying they have booked me in for an antenatal appointment next week. Same week im seeing the midwife for 16 week checkup. What is the hospital appointment about why am I seeing midwife and someone from hospital? is this new? I had my son 4 years ago. Im from the uk by the way.

Sound to me like there's been a mix up? Have you had your bloods n stuff done yet?

This seems odd unless your pregnancy is considered higher risk e.g. Complications in previous pregnancy, over 35, overweight etc. The midwife should of told you this at your booking appt. If there's no mention of anything in your notes I'd phone and check its not an admin error.

Bloods have all been done and I've heard nothing about results so assume all is normal. Am 26 years old and not considered high risk as far as I know.

Phone and check. If hospital do want to see you at 15 weeks the mw prob won't want to see you At 16, and vice versa x

I got a similar letter and was really confused (posted here about it at the time). Turned out it was due to a slightly high bmi, the midwife never mentioned it to me though, I had to phone the hospital to find out more.

I will give the hospital a ring. My bmi is under weight so they may want to see me because of it.
