My baby is now 7wks old, he has for this past 3 days been struggling with most of his feeds, where he struggles around in pain, lets out cries (although not to the stage of extreme pain) and basically wants winded for a good 30mins after a feed... he will bring up maybe 3-4 burps of wind and maybe 2-3 small sicks... where as before he'd take his bottle, bring up 1-2 burps, maybe a wee bit sick then that would be him.

So went to asda toinght to see what i could get to maybe help him. ive bought some tommee tippee closer to nature ani colic bottles (he is currently on the same bottles but not anti colic and stage 1 teat) And also bought some infocol.

I dont think what we are experiencing is as bad a 'colic' but then do you get different severness of colic? He isnt pulling his legs up to his chest or anything when hes trying to bring up wind...

My question is... if a baby doesnt have colic but is a bit windy would the anti colic bottles help or could it make things worse or not make any difference at all? Has anyone used these bottles who would recommend?

thanks x x

We had the same until about 8 weeks. She didn't have colic as such, but some colic type symptoms associated with really bad trapped wind. We tried everything including the anti colic bottles. I must admit, they did help more than the remedies, such as infacol - but our bottles eventually leaked on us so watch out for that. They need to be cool before assembling. We also used comfort formula and that made a big difference. A tummy tub bath is fab for relieving wind and colic, massage, bicycling legs and tummy time. But really it's time that makes the biggest difference. It went overnight with ours after 10 wks. Good luck!..xx

Thank you, i never had any of these issues with my daughter whos now 4 so its all new to me, fingers crossed it doesnt get any worse and the bottles and infacol help... appreciate your reply x

It's helped us enormously! Abby was exactly the same at about the same age and we swapped to Dr Browns bottles and use infacol still with prob every other feed now and she's much happier. Occasionally she will still get trapped wind ( hence still using the infacol) but it's rare now and it's usually after a late or early morning feed when she's tired and just wants to go back to sleep and doesn't want to get any wind up..

Hope the new bottles etc help- my HV said most babies will have some problems with wind so you were obviously v lucky before!!

We switched to Dr Browns bottles and it seemed to help a lot. Good luck!
