Hi ladies I'm not sure if this the right place to post?
I have had two little boys and me and dh would love another but I am petrified of giving birth again. My first baby I was pushing for 2 hours his head came out but the rest of him wouldn't, after some manovering and the McRoberts manover he was born leaving me with a large 2nd degree tear which didn't heal properly and I had to have futher surgery 6 months later, he was 8lb 3. With my second child I delivered his head easily and was then told to stop, I was put into the McRoberts manover again and he delivered but needed oxygen. I was left with another large 2nd degree tear he was 8lb 6. I was just wondering if this sounded like shoulder dystocia?
Sorry for the long post

I'm sorry I'm not sure about shoulder dystocia but is there anyway you would consider a c-section as your births have been so traumatic and difficult? Surely the hospital would consider this in advance? X

Thanks missy1 I think that I am going to ask about an ELSC just don't know if I have grounds and how to go about it.

Good luck, I think you do have the grounds and just speak to your midwife or consultant at next appointment x

Yes, the 2nd would have been dystocia too. McRoberts after the head is out, is the dystocia maneuver.

Previous dystocia means high risk for a repeat (as I was too, I had the first at 9lb 3oz after 4 hours pushing and an intentional broken collarbone extraction). My 2nd was 2 hours pushing but the McRoberts worked well (he was smaller at 8lb 6oz) and he came out without a tear.

You should not have a problem getting an ELCS with two previous dystocia. They usually offer it after the first. You are looking at a repeat dystocia likely, so there is no reason you should not be able to have a section. I'd be shocked if they didn't offer it first.

Good luck! :)

Thanks for your reply aliss, at the time I was just glad he was ok but now we would like another I really don't want to risk going through that again. I not sure what the rules are like in the uk but I have an appointment with my gp so I will see how I go from there.
