Just wondering how you balance your baby and your career? At the moment i'm still trying to paint and work around her naps and bedtime but boy is it tough! I tend to work quite large and have had to scale back.

I had a really hard time keeping up with drawing, and ESPECIALLY painting when my son was younger, but now that he's older it's much easier. He can wander off a little and do his own thing, or I always keep his art supplies out and a big piece of white butcher paper posted on the wall (like mine when I'm sketching) so he can create something too. It definitely gets easier when they're more self-sufficient!

Have you seen this by the way? Such a cool idea!

You should post some of your work, I'm curious :)!

Hey! I was half hoping that might be the case, but also wondered if greater mobility meant i'd spend more time running after her :) I'm just trying to work differently these days...definitely puts a stop to any procrastinating :haha:

Love the link - I saw another artist do something similar recently but I can't find the link to it :(

What kind of work do you do? I'd also love to see your work.

This is me: www.littlerobot.org.uk

I will admit Jack's really easy to entertain, so I might have it easier than most. I can spend a good hour to an hour and a half working, with a few interruptions, on good days, and about half that on really rough days.

I'm only getting back into art since high school/college (almost a decade), my stuff's nothing compared to yours!!

That's great! hopefully Elka will be a self entertainer too :)

Oh I did the same - took a long break after college (10 years) before starting painting again... took a long time to get shows and have any work I was happy to show...So worth it though for my own happiness X

Lindsey, your work looks great! You are very talented!

That link with the 2-year old's art is cool too!

I like to think I'm an artist, but am not really practicing right now. I have a Fine Arts degree concentrated in graphic design and worked in advertising for years and that just wore me out. I quit when LO was born and he's been a handful so I haven't gotten back into working at all. He's only just recently gotten to a point that he wouldn't destroy something I'm making (maybe!) and he seems to have a strong interest in creating art himself now. He's asking me to show him how to draw things ("draw dinosaur, draw house" etc) so I need to get back into it!

I'm glad to see others took a break after college and it's not just me. I graduated in 2006 and haven't been inspired much since then.
