i worked at a bilingual school for kids ages 0-5years old. it was a mommy and me type school where we led art, music, creative play, dancing, etc. classes for moms and their kids. i loved it but the management b.s. became a bit too much, along with a long commute once my husband and i moved in together, so i quit at the end of may this year. now i'm a housewife
i didn't imagine i would quit my job until i was too pregnant to work, but things don't always go as we planned, right?
it's advanced in the type of things they MAKE, and cell phones were definitely way more high tech here before they were in the US, but personal (in home) computer-wise, i feel like they are way behind.
7 years ago i worked in a private middle school that had 20some teachers and 2 computers that looked like they were from the late 90s in the teachers' room. no internet, which was probably for "safety" reasons, but i visited a couple weeks ago and teachers who want internet at work just get around it by tethering their computers to their phone wifi or plugging some other wifi capable device into their own laptops on their desks. so ridiculous. if they were worried about safety, seems like they would just provide a network so that they could control firewalls and all that, but instead they now have a black market for internet!
i love japan, but now i live on a military base, which is basically like a mini-America. reverse culture shock was definitely real for me the first couple months. am still sort of fumbling around trying to figure out my "place" here.
wow, sorry for such a long post...
