My OH keeps winding me up saying I am having twins !!! But now as I am feeling different this time to all the others I am starting to wonder.
I was just windering if there was any early signs ??

high hcg levels, increased morning sickness, showing quicker, but i think really the only way is an ultrasound! Good luck! x

i got a positive 9dpo and then the next day BAM so much colour!!! i joked at the time and said - jeez it must be twins ;) i also get the odd pully/crampy feeling low down 'left and right' (mostly when i'm in bed on a night).

btw, i'm 6 weeks and the morning sickness isn't necessarily a sign. i haven't got any YET...

Hi Suma
I have an inkling also - do you mind if I ask what a positive 9dpo is? Also how do you know already that you are Pg with twins - did you already have a scan? For both my other pg's the cb digital was the only test that would detect pg at the 4 week mark, the cheaper tests didn't show anything until I was about 5 and half weeks but this time (primarily because I didn't believe the first test!) I tested 4wks+1 and second line was as clear as the first!

I don't think there are any sure signs tbh, most things about signs are old wives tales. By positive 9dpo I think she means she got a positive pregnancy test 9 days past ovulation. Pulling and mild cramping are normal in pregnancy wether its multiple or single

I have my first scan on tuesday (7 wks) and am so anxious.... My hcg started out quadrupling (instead of doubling). I have intense muscle cramps at night (round ligament?) when I roll over in bed. Morning sickness is out of control - way worse than before. Hubby says I'm already starting to show and I can no longer button my pants (even though I've lost weight due to ms). From what i've seen online, these are all signs of twins but are also common with third pregnancies. My fertility meds came with a 30% risk, so I'm pretty scared... I really wanted our first to be twins, but now they would totally rock our world.

I was pregnant with twins (not anymore due to vanishing twin) and had zero sickness, the only sign was that my bump was very very large for the gestation (looked 20 weeks at 5-10 weeks, although it was my 3rd). Ultrasound showed fraternal but one empty.

Sorry, only ultrasound can tell!! :) I had a lot more nausea with my single son pregnancy!

With my twins I had a true gut feeling. I started to show sooner and my morning sickness was so bad I was hospitalized a few times. I stayed sick as a dog on the couch until about 12 weeks. Hope this helps and good luck. Also my HCG levels were really high and more than doubling.

When you saw you were larger for gestation, was it a bump or feel more like bloating? I don't think I have twins but always wondered! Doesn't run in my family, only shot is that I am post-miscarriage and heard up to a few months after chances are higher... Anyway, just wondering!

Here is my 7 week and 9 week bump pictures. I am not sure when the twin was lost (probably closer to 7 or less).

I don't think it was mostly bloat because my bump never went down in size (with my son, it went down after the bloating and then got bigger).

I had another MC only a few months prior (November, this one conceived Jan) and had fraternals in the family.

They say that more severe symptoms, early bump are signs. I dunno, I didn't have any symptoms apart from tiredness really and didn't show until I was just over 4 months pregnant. The only thing that was an indication when I look back were my 2 pregnancy tests that I did showed up 'Pregnant' VERY fast! I had no idea in the world I was having twins, would have bet my life that I was only pregnant with one! You never know though, i now think that if I fell pregnant with twins anyone can! :winkwink:

I keep wondering if i could have twins :haha: I have been sooooooooo tired this time and bloated, guess only time will tell :flower:

reading these posts is gettin me worried now lol im huge already and my test came back positive within seconds and was extremely dark :s

Its funny, because when my mum fell pregnant with her twins, she had a gut feeling straight away, and not even the Dr believed her. Even after two scans he said definately a singleton. It wasnt until he did another scan at 15 weeks, (due to her being adimant she was carrying two) that the other twin popped her head around to say hello. And she was smaller with her twins then with all of her singleton pregnancies!

Although in saying that, that was 18 years ago, and im sure ultrasound equipment is much better quality. But still, she recoins the Dr nearly fell of his chair in shock, and she just smirked and said I told you so :haha:

xx

I had a few days last week where I was terrified I'm carrying twins, didn't help someone pointed ou you're 9x more likely to conceive twins if breastfeeding when you fall pregnant

I have a gut feeling i am having twins this time around (my son was a twin)

Was having definite positives before my period was missed
Have more cramps & niggling pains
Feel extremely nauseous (no sickness yet but been close to it)
Feel really heavy in the uterus area
& just that niggling feeling that there are two babies in there lol

Scans a long way yet but i am counting the days :)

But if there is only one little bean I will be happy with a beautiful healthy baby :)

xxxx

I too am a little scared i may be having twins.. my test showed up VERY dark positive 6 days before my missed period, i have had very severe morning sickness since 5 weeks and my stomach is already massive. My midwife did ask at the booking in appointment about twins in the family and me and OH both have many sets of fraternal twins on both sides of both of our families. Despite this my midwife would not book me in for an earlier scan and so i have another 2 1/2 weeks to wait to know. Although i am just telling myself that a lot of singleton pregnancies have the same if not more symptoms but i wouldn't be that shocked if my scan came round and there were 2 in there!

i keep thinking im having twins my OH has 5 sets of twins in his family and my dad has twins in his side i feel huge and i keep having twinges like sank is moving and my belly feel very heavy near mu pubic bone i have been feeling so tired and with my fist i was never tired and i felt pregnant about a week before my period if you know what i mean and i took a test 2 days after my period was due and the test line came up before the control line haha xx

I had an early scan just before 7 weeks, and it's twins!! Everything felt different this time around. The tiredness and nausea is just ridiculous, I feel horrific all the time. I bloated really quick and also I had that "feeling", and scarily I was right.

One is smaller though so I have a follow up scan tomorrow to make sure one hasn't disappeared, it's funny how the thought of twins scares you to death but once you realise they are there you desperately want them both.

Be nice to have a twin bump buddy xxx
