Hi

I've recently moved to Colchester, don't know that many people and definitely no pregnant friends, would be great to meet others in the area to chat and perhaps go for coffee sometime? I'm going to be a mum for the first time, due 14th October! Very excited!

Hey, Congratulations.
I'm not too far from Colchester, I'm at Weeley, also don't know many people, as I haven't lived here all that long. And would love to meet up and chat. I'm due September 21st, and am having my first baby.

Hi, thanks for replying, you must be about a month ahead of me then! I have my 20 week scan on thursday, getting a bit nervous tbh though I am feeling a bit of movement every day so I think hopefully everything will be ok! What do you do for a living? I'm afraid I don't really know Weeley, whats it like there? I live pretty much central Colchester, which is handy for work (I work at the Uni) and also when I need to go to town its only about a 10 min walk, looking forward to when I get to do that walk with a pram as well - exciting! xx

Aww, how exciting! Are you going to find out if you are having a girl or boy or are you waiting? We found out we're having a little girl :) I didn't feel nervous, just so excited. I'm sure it'll all go great :) movement is the best feeling ever! I want her to always kick lol. She's really active already, my partner felt her more for the first time last week, it was lovely. I'm currently out of work, we moved to Weeley for my partner's work and found out I was pregnant before I found a job down here. I'm hoping once our daughter's at school I can do another qualification as my beauty therapy is more or less useless now, everything's changing. I'm lucky enough not to have to worry too much though. That's cool, what do you do at the uni? Weeley is quiet and not much goes on here. You are lucky to be just a walk away from shops and things, I'm dreading the pram on the train, especially with no level crssings , eek! Lol.

Aw how lovely that your husband felt her move, I can't wait until my husband can feel it! Do they do antenatal classes in Weeley or will you be attending ones in Colchester? I work in finance at the uni dealing with the research grants! What does your husband do? Mine works at Anglia Ruskin uni in Chelmsford supporting distance learners, we are lucky because his work is quite flexible so he can work from home a bit and help me out with our dog if I need a rest, I was struggling a bit in the first trimester when I felt unwell and I was having to come home every lunch to walk him!

Yeah, it was amazing, he thought he was going to find it strange, but he loved it, he had a massive goofy grin on his face. :) Although, unfortunately we aren't married, he married too soon before and is finding it hard to find his wife to file for a divorce.

It's so strange though, because when I felt the movements just on the inside at first, I could have sworn I could feel it on the outside, but he couldn't feel it, then one day, I just knew I definitely felt it on the outside too and he could feel it.

We have classes in Clacton, which is just a few minutes closer to me than Colchester, I am also giving birth in Clacton, which is a little scary, as it's only a midwifery led unit, so if anything goes wrong *touch wood it wont* then I have to get all the way to Colchester to be treated.

Ooh, does that mean you know all the research that's happening before anything gets found out? That sounds really good. My partner is a complex manager on a holiday park, it's not the most glamorous job in the world, but it's a step on his way up and he enjoys it apart from the long hours.
Aww, it's good that he can help out with stuff like that, luckily we live on site, and even though I'm not working, I found the first trimester horrendous and after taking care of the housework I did not have any energy for our dog, she's a German Sheppard x Husky pup, so extremely hard to manage and so strong. So he could come home and walk her on his breaks, and with it being a close site, we had some help from friends who live on site, they would come by and take her out for us, when he couldn't get away. We have had to rehome her since, as when my sickness had gone she started to turn on me, trying to bite me and snarling if went near her, and I didn't feel safe, it was heartbreaking, but I wasn't taking any risks with our baby.

So exciting today though, 20 week scan! Let me know how it goes?!

Hey, the scan went really well, we are expecting a baby girl too!

Its a shame about your dog, I hope our dog will be ok, he's a beagle and very very friendly so I think he will be ok, plus he is quite small which might help us control the situation a bit better. He has never growled at another person or dog so he should be ok, but we will be so careful.

What items have you bought so far? We have bought a pram (its not arrived yet though - can't wait for a play!), we also have a cot and today we bought our first girly baby grow and a pink fluffy bunny! (couldn't resist!)

How old are you btw? It was my birthday yesterday so I'm now 28!

Hi, I hope everything is ok, not heard from you in a while! I saw that there is a mother and baby event at Weeley village hall on saturday? I really want to go but unfortunately we have friends visiting this weekend, I thought I would let you know incase you didn't know already!
x

Hey, sorry, I've been having trouble getting online. Back on now though :) happy! Lol.

Yayy, lots of pink then!

Your dog should be fine, ours was just a pup, too hyper and we had changed a lot for her in a short space of time, she was bound to get testy.

So far we have lots of nappies and wipes, and clothes ranging from newborn to 6-9months, we have a bath, changing table, changing mat, stereliser, bibs, muslin squares, scratch mitts, booties, hats, bedding, blankets, soft cloths and sponges, towels and a top and tail bowl, my mum and dad are buying our pram and my grandma is buying the moses basket, so we are lucky like that. So all that really leaves is a few more clothes, breast pump, some bottles, a carrier so I don't always have to lug a pram over the train lines, bouncer and a cot, then a few bits like bottle brush, dummies (just incase) lol.

I loved buying our first girly things, the first thing we bought her was a pink knitted dress with matching hat! Then tonnes of pink cardis and sleepsuits. I got her the cutest little t-shirts last week one says "I love daddy and daddy loves me" and the other says "I love mummy because she is lovely". Be careful not to buy too many newborn clothes though, because most family and friends will buy for her, and they will buy newborn, and they wont last long at all, lol.

A very belated happy birthday, lol. I'm 22.

And thanks, if you meant yesterday I am gutted 'cause I've only just seen this, if you mean next saturday then I am also gutted, I'm going to visit family, it's my grandma and grandad's anniversary party and then father's day, so I won't be here. Lol. live about a three minute walk from the village hall as well :( x

Hi, glad all is ok!

Unfortunately the baby fair was yesterday :(

Wow you have bought lots of stuff already, I think we need to get into buying the smaller stuff soon, I guess I find it a bit intimidating in a way getting nappies and lots of clothes and muslins and creams and stuff, I feel like once I get started where will it end, what if I forget something important?! I find it really scary actually, so worried I'll forget something vital and that will mean I'm a rubbish mum!

My husband felt the first kicks on friday night, they were very faint but he definitely felt them, we are very excited, its so nice to be able to share it isn't it?

I'm so exhausted today, had some friends visiting this weekend and although it was really nice I've found it a bit tiring because I worry about what to do and if they are bored or what if we run out of things to talk about, so I feel a bit like I've been "on" all weekend which kind of takes it out of me! Also walked a lot this weekend and I've been getting a bit of a funny hip which I think gets worse if I walk a long way, I think its a pregnancy related thing so I have a massive pillow to help with it but it was still quite bad last night!

Anyway hope you are ok and had a nice weekend!

Hey ladies, I'm in Felixstowe......quite a bit behind you guys though :flower:

I'm essex too! But Romford way so the other side to you guys x

Hi girls I'm in hornchurch, I'm only 4weeks so early days but sooooo excited! Good luck everyone xxx

Hey Sarah! I am Romford and 4 weeks 2 days so looking at a due date of feb 15th 2014!

I am moving to South Ockendon this month, and i am desperate to have the bubba at queens and not Basildon lol!

Ahh, oh well, I'm sure there'll be more.

And yeah, but I am overly keen lol, and you might forget something, but it wont make you a rubbish mum. It'll make you human. Make a list, and ask your mum, or I'll gladly help, I wrote my list in about 20 minutes and showed my mum, she said I'd not forgotten anything, now I cross things off as we buy them and that way I wont forget anything. But I've had lots of experience with babies and so have a bit of an advantage, but more than likely you'll buy more than you need of everything and you'll end up not using everything. So don't worry too much.

Aww, that's amazing, how did he feel? My partner thought it would be weird but he loved it, not long until you will see movements now, we love to lay watching my belly jiggle as she wriggles about. :)

Make sure you get some rest tonight then, you can't go over-exerting yourself. Get the hubby to run you a nice bath and rub your feet, and just spend the evening relaxing together, or whatever you like to do. I can imagine playing hostess gets tiring, no one ever really visits me, so I'm lucky enough not to worry about that. I used to worry that I would run out of things to talk about with my friends, but now if the conversation ends, I'm happy to just not talk for a bit, but I'm quite chatty, so it isn't usually long until I think of something else to say.

I hope you find something that helps your hip soon, has the midwife or doctor suggested anything? I have a lot of trouble with my back, but with it being a problem I've had since I was a teen, there is nothing they can suggest except rest, but not too much and heat. It's worth asking if you haven't already though. Are you due to see the midwife soon? We're there again on Tuesday.

Yeah, I had a good weekend thanks, didn't really do all that much, but it was peaceful thanks. Apart from it being tiring, how was yours? x

Felixstowe isn't too far is it? I thought it was near ipswich :s I'm geographically challenged though, lol. And I have no clue about romford or hornchurch, only that they are more towards London. I'm originally from south yorkshire, so clueless about Essex.

Oh really? I thought Basildon is ment to b better? I want a water birth if possible so think I'd rather Basildon but I'm really close to queens! I'm going doctors tomorrow, have you been yet? Xxx

I have heard mixed reviews about both! I have a doctors appointment on the 21st it was the earliest I could get! So will be about 6 weeks. Good luck with ur trip to the doctors :)

Yeah only 15 mins or so from Ipswich

Hi newbies, I go to Felixstowe fairly often as my parents live near there, used to always go there in the summer when I was a kid, Felixstowe and Aldeborough (for the fish and chips!)

HotRox - I have made a sort of list, think I need to make time to properly sit and think about it though! I haven't really had any experience with babies, except seeing my little niece occasionally who will be two in October, I think as you suggest I will have a chat with my mum about it when I start to buy things properly in case I forget something really daft!

Had a nice weekend but very busy, paying for it now though, was sent home from work yesterday as I felt rough went to the docs in the afternoon as I thought I might have some sort of UTI as I had back pain, but she thinks its more likely some sort of virus, think she is right as I've woken up today feeling worse :( Just going to take some time off to rest. Feel a bit bad as I'm off sick a lot really since I've been pregnant, but I'd never forgive myself if something went wrong because I pushed myself too far!
