Hi all!! Just bit of advice really. We have used our two funded cycles for IVF and are thinking of going to the Manchester Fertility Centre for our next (and hopefully last) cycle. Has anyone any experience here? xx:flower:

Hi I have been for consultation there and I am starting treatment next week the clinic is brand new and state of the art the staff are wonderful and very helpful and organised Dr Lieberman has a very good reputation and seems like he really wants to help I can wait to start treatment there I have had 2 previous cycles at st Mary's in Manchester and Manchester Fertility services seems like another world.
It has very high sucess rates to 37%

Thanks!! We want to book our consultation with them but just waiting on our notes from the Womens in Liverpool so they can see what we have had before this cycle. Also said we dont need all the tests again if we have proof of them which will save some money. Nice to hear some positive feedback! We were just a bit lost as to where to go now we have to pay! Wanted different opinion than Liverpool. We werent that impressed on our second cycle. Felt like we were just a number and they hadnt really looked at any different ways of improving our chances. Loads of baby dust to you!! xx

That's exactly why I changed to MFS at st Mary's you are jus a number an with NHS ivf there is literally one shoe fits all attitude I asked if they would change things for my next cycle as I don't see a point in doing the same thing a 3rd time an they would not even consider so when I went to mfs for my consultation it was amaizing we sat and spoke fo well over an hour he asked me what I felt and said what he thinks he was very honest I asked about steroids to help implantation and he said its a waste of money but agreed to an endometrial scratch to help implantation th nurses call up all the time and are always ontop of everything and give you their time and it feels more like checking into a hotel than a hospital :)

Sounds good...like the idea of a hotel stay!! It just seemed to us they wasted our second NHS cycle. Never saw a Dr of any sort while we were there. They rang this morning (day after i was told none of my three eggs fertilised) to see if i wanted an appointment with the professor or whatever he is to discuss where to go next and see what we could change! Surely that shouldve been done before the last cycle! x

Exactly, I was under st Mary's for 18 months and saw a dr once and that was the first time we went there so after my last cycle I requested to see the doctor and the first thing he said to me was " well I've looked through your notes I don't know why you wanted to see me?"
He told me very harsh that I will need a donor after my next cycle if it fails :( he just said there is nothing I can do about it, he had no interest in trying other ways to improve egg quality of implantation :(
Omg I'm so sorry about your cycle you must be devastated
You need to go see a private doctor :( :hugs:

Was devastated yesterday when i got the phone call but was half expecting it. was hoping at least one would fertilise as we got a good quality embryo 1st time. Feel bit better today knowing we are trying somewhere different and hearing from you about Manchester has made me feel more positive! I went to the Womens this afternoon and hand delivered the form needed so we can get a copy of my notes! Once we have got those we can have our consultation at Manchester and get on with our 3rd (and hopefully lucky!) cycle! My hubby spoke to Manchester today and he said they sounded really helpful and were lovely.
I can't believe the Dr at St Marys was so harsh and uncaring with you! His job is to do everything he can to help people like us have babies!! xx

:( well I hope a change in clinic and doctors with a fresh outlook can help you :hugs:
I had my consultation before I got my notes I just wrote down everything I knew all the details I had and then I just dropped my notes off for him when they arrived they take a while to come and I'm impatient :haha:
have you had a look at the manchester fertility website? :hugs:

Know what you mean about being impatient! I got the Womens to email me the form i needed to request the notes yesterday then drove up there myself and hand delivered it so i know its there! They said it takes about two weeks so i will be ringing to nag haha!! They advised us at Manchester to get the notes first so they could see all our test results so we would save money by not having them done again. Yeah had a look at website...looks great...hubby well impressed bless him!!! x

Oh that's much quicker than mine it was 40 days they said :/ i kept calling them and saying that i had booked and paid for a private consultation so it was urgent or i would loose the £175 lol
Your better hand delivering them I collected mine myself the first forms I sent got lost so I hand delivered the second lot :/
Oooo I hope they come quick :)

I would've burst if id had to wait 40 days! Did it take that long in the end? I said i needed them urgently but they said there was a queuing system for them. Manchester told us they can be slow sometimes so to keep nagging them which i plan to do! Usually quite patient but won't be able to be for these! x

Yes you have to nag them they soon get sick of it lol it took about 3 weeks to get them once they finally got my request form but I called them a week after I sent the firs one and they said they hadn't received it and call back the week after and they still didn't have it so then after hand delivering it took 3 weeks so in total 5 weeks :(
Just keep phoning them lol :)

Thats rubbish! Thats why i hand delivered it...so i knew it was there. Someone from the legal department came down to reception and took it off me. She promised it would get started the day after. Might just give them a little call on Monday just to check!! How far are you into your next cycle now? x

That's a good idea you should call them once they started mine it only took a few days :)

Well I have an endometrial scratch (it's supposed to almost double your chance of implantation) that's next Thursday 1st August and then I start injections arround 10-11th depending on when AF arrives I'm on short antagonist protocol I'm so pleased after my last 2 have been 15 week protocols it was hell lol I feel that having 12 week Lupron and 2 weeks of buserelin suppressing me the Stims had no chance so I'm glad I'm not being supressed at all this time :)

What does the endometrial scratch involve? Sorry for being bit ignorant! Heard people talk about it but dont know anything about it. And i thought my last two cycles were long protocols with the buserelin... not quite as long as yours! Hopefully you will have loads of nice juicy eggs this time!! I thought they may have tried short protocol my second time after reading a lot of people had that due to low AMH but dont think they even bothered considering it.Me and hubby having couple of glasses of wine in front of tv tonight after this crap week. This time last week i was imagining id have my feet up looking after our little embie. Never mind...best things come to those that wait!! Ill be thinking of you next thurs!! xx
