Hi girls,

I've been stuck in a rut for months now as my cycles are irregular. I came off BCP 17 months ago and although my cycles have settled a bit, I can't predict them at all.

I've gone for 4 - 5 months with no AF, but in the last few months, she's been appearing every 4-6 weeks, which is good news. :happydance:

The bad news is that I can never predict when I will ovulate. I've tried using OPK's for months with no luck. I tried using Superdrug's OPK's and got a positive, then had no AF for 4 months! Obviously a false positive

I've been using internet cheapies for the last couple of months but have never got a positive. I don't think they work for me at all.

I've also tried tracking my temps with Fertility Friend, but again, as each cycle is so different I don't know I've ovulated til it's too late!! There is no pattern to my cycles whatsoever.

I had my first FS appointment (last month) and DH has another SA next week. But God only knows when my next appointment will be so I'm wondering if there's ANYTHING I can do to figure out when I ovulate until my next appointment??

I was thinking about getting some Clearblue opk's but I could end up buying 5 months worth before I ever get a positive - I might need to win the Lotto first!!

And just to add, my G.P is crap and will not help with bloods etc. Sorry for the rambling post ladies but I'm at a loss at what to do.

xxx

The best thing to do, to be honest, is to just have sex three times a week or, if you can, every other day for your entire cycle. Its tiring but it's the only way of making sure you 'catch it' so to speak.

Hey Mrs R, i'm with CurlySue,

I think if it's hard to predict, unless you get EWCM and that you are aware of your body's changes during ovulation, it is hard to predict. If you have sex every 2-3 days you will be getting in before ovulation and during it plus you still have that window for fertilisation for afterwards!

I know we don't :sex: enough and got told that 2-3 times per week also makes sure that the 'pipes' are clear and that the swimmers are nice and strong!

Good luck x

Unfortunately this is pretty much impossible for us as I work 24 hour shifts so sometimes I don't see my DH for 2 days at a time because he's at work too. I know we definately don't BD enough for this to work as we don't see each other enough lol.

This is why is so important that I find something that helps me track ovulation.

The odds seem to be stacked against us lol. Roll on the clomid!!!

what about getting a CBFM??

I know with the long cycles it's hard to pinpoint but i guess you could buy 50 OPKs bulk buy and just do 1 a day - that would help??

Failing that if you get EWCM i would go for it then!x

I was looking at ClearBlue Fertility monitors, but can't figure out if they would be any use for me or not, due to the long cycles. If this cycle is within the time frame, I might consider getting one.

As for the OPK's, I did buy 50 and have used most of them with no positives!! My hormones must be very screwed up lol

And I don't seem to have much EWCM either, well not enough that I could use it as an ov sign.

I just sound all doom and gloom today!! I think it's because DH has a S.A appointment for next week so it's all playing on my mind again.

hiya just read your post some work places let you take a career brake a friend of mine wanted to start a family so she took a year off and I think they paid her not full wages and so she and her hubby had already saved up for this and they went on went on a lovely three week romantic holiday and it they got to just be together and get in touch with eachother again and all there worrys about getting pregnant where less because it was more important to just be together and they
Like you had problems TTC and it didn't help cos they worked all the time, and they didn't have any them time to just not thinking of TTC and relaxing and she fell pregnant, so even tho it might be a bit different to you it could still happen you just have to figure out a way to get that time off and be togetheri hope you get your BFP soon:-)

Have you thought about changing your GP to one who is more helpful? Until my TTC journey started I thought they were all the same but some are so much more helpful than others.
