Hey,
I was only expressing milk since baby wouldnt latch on anymore after taking formula from the bottle for a couple days after birth. my supply has gone low and I don't want to pump anymore so I have stocked up on formula.

Anyways now getting to the point.
I gave her formula today 3oz thats how much she drinks when i expressed but she threw it up.
I never seen her throw up so much  Im thinking I did something wrong? am I suppose to only give her a little at a time to get her tummy back use to it? she wasnt crying or acting different after the feed after 15minutes of laying down she just threw it up. and shortly after went right back ot sleep.

so advice please. I feel like im doing something wrong, it made me go pump again out of guilt :dohh:

My lo throws up more on formula than BM, my mw said it was normal though for babies to bring up formula where as they hardly would with BM so I just carried on

I used to express and top up with formula and he used to chuck most of the formula back up, but when I dried up I just had to perserve with it and get used to messyness after a feed. He stopped throwing his milk back up after a couple of weeks and is doing really well on it now.

Thanks, she hasn't threw up since that 1st bottle. Just more spit up then im use to since she never spit up with the expressed milk. Glad to know its common or normal.

Formula fed babies are generally more sicky than BF babies. It may just take her some time to get used to it - i exclusively expressed for 6 weeks and the transition to formula took about 3 weeks xx

Yep, FF babies sometimes do just throw up entire feeds for no real reason. Unless they're doing it every feed or losing weight, I wouldn't worry.

I BF my LO and top up with formula and she always drinks more EBM than formula so maybe formula fills them up more

You're not doing anything wrong hun. :hugs: Formula sits a bit heavier in babies' tummies, so it's not unusual for them to feel a bit sick afterwards especially if they're used to BM. Spitting up/throwing up almost always looks like a lot more than it is as well, so as long as she's gaining weight she's keeping in most of her food. :) If she keeps throwing up it may be worth looking into a different brand/type of formula, but not quite yet as shaking up her diet again might make it worse just now. Hang in there hun, you're doing a great job! :hugs:
