any one else had this? 13 week spotting

Hi,
I posted this in 1st trimester previously but thought i may get more experiences from the 2nd trimester group. hope anyone can help.Iim 13 weeks and have had spotting on and off all this week. it stopped for wed and thur and came back yesterday. Ive got no cramps or pain and its very very slight. im only wearing a liner, not a full pad either.
I had a scan on monday and everything was fine and even saw the midwife on wed eve after the spotting in earlier week and heard heartbeat so all is ok.

I was just wondering if anyone had experinced anything like this?
Ive been to the Dr today and asked if it was maybe an infection and she has given me a pessary to use tonight.

I would really feel pointless going to A and E as im not bleeding as such and im not in any pain. Doctor basically told me that even if it was the start of a miscarriage there is nothing they could do until I was 24 weeks anyway!

any experinces?

i had light spotting at exactly the same stage as u, 13 weeks. it was literally just 4 spots of blood though on 2 occasions. i went to EPU and they scanned me and all was fine, they said it hadnt come from the baby or sac so im guessing it was maybe my cervix. had u had sex before the spotting started? as this can cause it by irritating the cervix.
im sure all is fine as it was with me, i would just keep an eye on it

I was just about to ask the same thing. Did you have sex? Has it slowed since or are you still spotting?

Havn't had any so far today (touch wood) so yeah it has slowed down and no havnt had sex but i am a football coach so maybe i overdid it a little bit on thursday eve at training???

possibly, im sure its come from your cervix. when i went to the hospital they said it could be due to baby having a growth spurt aswell, maybe causing pressure on the cervix

Had small red bleed which turned into persistent brown spotting. Started at 11 weeks and continued to 14. Turned out to be a pocket of fluid in uterine lining and didn't affect bubs. HTH xxx

i had some spotting at around the same time, 13w. ive had it on and off throughout but that was the most recent one. it happened after spending a day on my feet running after my 3yo nephew so just put it down to overdoing it that day.
in my opinion, taking a rest day and staying off your feet after you've overdone it does wonders. x

Hi hun,

Sorry about the spotting, I know how worrysome it can be. I started VERY lightly spotting at around 11 weeks and then had a somewhat heavier spotting situation at 12 weeks with a clot. It tapered off and even now I still have some days of light spotting. When I say light I mean I don't even need a pantiliner, but there are spots on the tp.

Mine turned out to be a low lying placenta causing the spotting. It was discovered at a follow up u/s after the 12 week spotting.

I have spotted about four days before my period would show up for the last three months with no sign of any period. I've read that there really isn't that much blood because when you spot the discharge that increases takes on the color of the blood. I've been feeling flutters since about 10 weeks now and felt the flutters the whole time I spotted the last time, which was reassuring. I will be fourteen weeks along tomorrow and am exited to be in the second trimester.

I had spotting on and off through first tri and then up until 17 weeks. Sometimes it was heavy bleeding too which convinced me there was a problem and i got the same answer that they couldnt do much and they didnt seem bothered as i was early in my pregnancy. Scans showed bubs was fine and no bleeding coming from inside.

They finally had a look at my cervix at 16 weeks and confirmed it was coming from my cervix, i was then referred for a colposcopy which showed i had acervical ectropian, basically an area on my cervix which bleeds and was being set off by walking, housework, sex, going to the loo,etc etc. I had it cauterised with silver nitrate and have had no spotting or bleeding ever since and can now do anything with no probs, even !! I also had a swab taken and was told i had BV which i was given antibiotics for and it is all clear now, i dont know if it was that irritating things too, probably didnt help!

Is a scary time though, I wish doctors would be more helpful in the early stages. It may only be a small unimportant fetus to them but to us its our baby, our child!

Yes OP I was spotting last week I am 14 weeks and two days, I woke up and went to use the restroom and when I went to wipe i seen bright red blood. You talking about scared OMG I freaked out, I went to the emergency room and they said they did not see any blood and my ultrasound was fine. They released me with a paper stating it was a possible miscarriage, I was devastated after my discharge. After me and hubby got home things got worse I began to vomit and passed a clot. To make a long story short when I went to my Doctor that Tuesday I was diagnosed with an UTI. So, Im currently taking antibiotic and the baby is fine. Pray that everything is fine for you and your baby and its going to be ok. I know how you are feeling worried but you are going to be good by god's will. I wanted to say my story with you to put you a little at ease.
