Any success stories for slow heartbeat?

We had an early scan on Monday - I should be 8 weeks (according to a calculator on the internet) but she said the embryo was measuring at 6-7 weeks and then said that she couldn't call it because it was difficult to make out. The heart beat was definitely there but that it looked a little slow to her. I have another rescan on the 28th. Unless I miscarry before that..

Does anyone have any success stories from having a slow heartbeat but didn't go on to miscarry?

Thanks for reading.

Did they give you a number for the heartrate? Generally in the early days anything over 90-100 is reassuring.
Do you think it is possible that you might be a week to ten days out with your dates? If you are only counting from your period then all might be absolutely fine. You probably just ovulated later, or you have a longer cycle. This is a common reason for the dates being out. If you know when you ovulated for sure, this would be less reassuring. I had this scenario (small embryo, very low heartbeat) and it ended in miscarriage, but I was certain of my dates.

Fingers crossed you are just out with your dates. The precise numbers for the heartbeat are not so important at this stage, just seeing a hb at all is a good sign. Wishing you the best of luck for your rescan.

Kat, she didn't measure the heartrate - just said it seemed a bit slow to her. I'm pretty sure of my dates - know we'll either have conceived on the 6th or 7th of November..(dtd on both dates and got a happy face on an ovulation kit on the 6th) which puts me at about 8 weeks... It's not so much the size that's worrying me as her not being able to call it - as in whether it would work out or not... and then casually mentioning at the end that the heartbeat seemed a bit slow....

Will just have to wait and see I suppose and tense up everytime I need to go to the loo between now and then....

Thanks.

Hello, she didn't mention the heartrate - just that it was slow... she just didn't seem overly postive. I know they have to keep you grounded but I have a very bad feeling. This will be my fifth pregnancy and I have just one child - can't believe it might be going wrong again...:nope:

Thanks for your reply though.

I hope everything is fine on your next scan.

i went in at 6w4d from my lmp and i know when i ovulated putting me 5-6 days back at 5w5 days or so..The doctor said my baby prolly wouldnt survive and it wasnt a viable pregnancy because the heartrate was low in the 60-70's ...5 days later when i went for a followup exam the heartrate was 119 and the baby tripled in size...
i know how hard it must be waiting, i had to go through the same thing, just keep your chin up and pray its all you can do right now <3
This quote helped me a lot waiting for the follow up us, i hope it helps you too!

I'm glad to read the responses to this post. I had my first scan on wed. and was very happy to see a fluttering heart beat. but when the tech gave me the bpm, i got somewhat concerned. Everythin i'd read online said the heart rate should be above 120 bpm. mine was at 100. The scan was done at 6weeks 0 days. I requested a follow-up wich will be on next friday, 10 days after the first scan. So i'm hopeful for an increase in bpm.

Hi I'm going through a similar thing, had first ultrasound put me at 5w6d had follow up 2 weeks later fetus only measures 6w2d but gest sac measured 8w heart rate was 79 bpm having another ultrasound tomorrow a week after the last one to see if increase in heart rate and growth not looking good for me tho I hope it all works out for you
