Any UK ladies consultant led because of age?

I am due to see my Consultant for the first time next month and just wondered if anyone can advise what the meeting entails?

I am 40 and pregnant with my second and the referral has been made purely because of my age.

I have also been advised by my midwife that it is now policy with our NHS Trust not to let Mums of advanced maternal age to go past their due date. Anyone else been advised of this? I am just wondering how rigorously this is applied!?

Congratulations!

No idea what the meeting entails but wanted to say it doesn't matter how rigorously they apply their rule. It's your choice and you cannot be forced into anything, regardless of what your health care providers think.

I saw the midwife first and was due to see the consultant after. The midwife wrote on my notes that I would be have to be seen at the hospital until birth - as opposed to local midwives due to being over 40 and having an underactive thyroid.

An hour later and the consultant says I am fit and healthy (and lots of women have babies over 40) and that I could be seen my our local midwives. That was the end of that I am happy to say.

I was booked in for for my induction exactly at 41 weeks.
