Any ultrasound experts? Could this be a gestational sac at 3 weeks?

I'm 7DPO and I had an ultrasound and CD21 bloodwork this morning.

The ultrasound tech also saw a small sack inside my endometrium lining. She said it was too early to say for sure if it was a baby or just a small area of fluid, but she sounded optimisitic. When the doctor looked at it, he said, "If it wasn't so early, I would say that it looks like you're pregnant."

She printed off a copy of the ultrasound for the doctor to see, but I could tell she wasn't going to give one to me (probably didn't want to give me false hope...) so I took this picture of the screen with my phone when she left me in the room alone to get dressed

I know I would only be 3 weeks along, but it sure looks like something is in there, right??? Most of the things I find online to read start at 4 weeks, so it is too early for that to be anything yet?

i wouldnt want to get your hopes up but i have seen a scan at just under 6 weeks that looked simlar so you might be maybe wait a week n test?

Have you put this in 1st tri as well? Just I'm sure there is someone in there who's also a sonographer but I can't remember her name! I'm not sure about the pic though hun as I didn't have an US that early on. Good luck!

how sure are you of your dates? scans arent usually done this early (and for good reason as you cant say much about a sac before a yolk sac and fetal pole develop) so it is hard to say. this could very well be a very early gestational sac. i read these scans and we would say, "possible early pregnancy, correlate with beta hcg level and follow up". until the yolk sac and pole develop you have no way of knowing whether they will. but any sac is better than no sac =) and there arent many things that make collections of fluid like this in the uterus. fingers crossed and let us know

I'm fairly certain of my dates, but not 100%. I had a LEEP down on December 28th, so I had some spotting on and off after it for a few weeks, so it was hard to know exactly when I should start counting AF bleeding vs what was still healing from the LEEP.

I am pretty much certain that the scan could not have been more than 7DPO. I had another ultrasound done on January 23rd and they were still follicles at that point. I only have one fallopian tube, so he was trying to determine from this ultrasound if and egg was released from the good side or not.

He seemed a bit surprised by the sac too. He basically said if it wasn't so early, that's what he would think it was. Maybe I'll know something more when they call back with the bloodwork results.

If you look at the ladies (lorileigh)ticker at the bottom of her original post you'll see she's 28 weeks pregnant so he must've been pregnant at the time if her scan!

Just saw the update to this thread. Yes, you will see from my ticker that I am now 28 weeks pregnant with TWINS! The doctor never really did give an explanation for this. Maybe it was both sacs beside each other and that's why we could see it... maybe it was one big sac that split into two and our twins might be identical.... we really don't know.

All I know is that 28 weeks later, that tiny little sac is two growing little boys and we could not be more excited!

i saw this while doing my own search and had a couple more q's for ya if you don't mind?

When did you get your BFP? After this u/s, I mean....when was your follow up u/s and what did it show?

I had a u/s last Tuesday (so one week ago) which showed a 2mm sac and thick endo lining. I *had* what I thought was a pos hpt on Saturday (even DH saw it) but nothin' but negatives (although there might be squinty-faint lines on some, not sure) since....so just curious if they detected a super early preg in me or if something else is going on...I'm so confused and yours is the ONLY similar story I could find on this huge web!
