Hello

I wasn't sure where to post this but I'm hoping someone might see it and be able to help!

I've just been asked to play an hour's worth of violin music (with a piano accompaniment) for a concert in September, but I've not had much time to play since Sophie was born, and I know my violin needs new strings!

I was just wondering if anyone can recommend strings that are decent but not hugely expensive? I usually use either Pirastro or Dominant, and the cheapest I can see if £33 - am I likely to get anything semi-decent any cheaper than this? It's just with me now being a SAHM, I can't really afford much!

:flower:

i'd say £33 was a flipping good price!
my local music shop, the cheapest your looking at is atleasr £45
are you going to restring yourself or taking your violin into a shop? if so i'd see if you can negotiate a payment plan x

In the past I'd have thought £33 was really cheap but now I'm a SAHM things are really tight :haha:

Maybe I'll just go with those ones and see if we can cut back anywhere else. I'm planning on restringing it myself - I usually just order them online from The String Zone.

xx

I think that's a good price too hon, I use Dominant too, they're even pricier for viola ones

I hope you find a solution xx

ETA just saw a set of pirastro violin strings on bids on ebay - 2 days to go and they're only at £6 (50p p&p)

There is a set on Buy it Now for £25 too!
