I don't want the whole should/shouldnt debate. Just want to know if anyone has put baby rice in LO's bottle. If so how much? And was it rice or porridge? I have heard about putting rusk in but not sure about that as it contains sugar and wheat.

Thanks in advance ladies :flower:

Good night milk is from 6 months

Can I just ask is it so baby will sleep longer or go longer between feeds? Have you thought of moving onto a hungry baby milk? x

Baby rice states 4m +

thats because its got stuff to thicken but the op wants to add rice id rather feed my baby hipp goodnight milk if i felt the need to than add rice or porridge to a bottle thats not safe  its 6 months as 6 months is recomended age for weaning

None.

A 10 week old baby doesn't need cereal/rice added to a bottle. It needs milk when they ask, day or night. There will times when they will ask for it more but you ride it out. If it's so LO will STTN it's very likey to not work and potentially upset LO's undeveloped insides and cause more interrupted nights. They aren't babies for long, don't rush things.

Also, certain porridges contain gluten which is a big no no under 6 months.

Just thought I'd save you some bother...

I did a good bit of trial and error just recently to try get Stewart to sleep longer. He was waking every 1-2 hours. I tried Goodnight milk, hungry baby milk, different things for dinner, mixing the bedtime formula with weak chammomile tea. NONE of it made him sleep any longer. He could have 3 meals a day and still wake twice a night for food.

Now I'm of the opinion that some babies just sleep better than others. Sure we can try help them sleep better, but since it's difficult to be 100% sure if wakings are hunger, pain, teeth or developmental I've decided it's best I just accept it's my job as a Mummy to be there whenever he needs me.

Incidentally, he just recently started sleeping better all on his own! :happydance:

Research has shown the goodnight milk (which is only for 6m+ btw as it contains gluten) doesn't work; this is why all other brands than HIPP have stopped making it xx

Baby might be going through a bit of a growth stage again. I remember on several occasions already where my LO just wanted to nurse all day & it seemed as though he was starving. I just had to keep up with his feeding on demand schedule & nurse more often than usual. This might be whats happening with your baby right now? If so, it shall pass.

No I never have cos I heard babies can choke on it.

My baby is actually 14 weeks old. Don't know whats going on with the ticker. Have had a few private messages from people on here who don't want everyone to see their comments. Quite a few people actually do it. Ive tried it with LO and he hasn't choked and is more settled than ever. Don't see how they can choke when it dissolves fully. He only has it one a day. 2 spoons in a 6oz bottle and he loves it. He is much more happier. Whats good for one baby might not be good for another. They are all different just like us.

Like i said i didn't want a debate (or smart ass answers) Just wanted feedback from people who have actually done it. Thanks for all the advice that was actually helpfull and answered the question i originally asked. :flower:

The whats good for one baby argument doesnt really count when its a proven choking hazard but do what you wish.

Maybe my GP has alot less experience than you all. Ill have to go tell him that the advice she gave me is totally wrong. Thank you all so much for sharing your expert knowledge with me :flower:

Obviously so! If It was reccomended they would tell you to do so but in fact they strongly advise you not to! Only in cases where the inital risk outweighs the choking hazard eg. Extremely bad reflux where baby isnt gaining weight even then it should be a last resort
