Any1 put baby rice/porridge in bottle, If so how much ??

Moderators, I think you should close this topic. Its gotten way out of hand.

Many years ago it was the done thing adding rice and rusks to bottles, my father gave my half brother 2 rusks in a bottle for bed and even created his own variflow teat ( just sliced a gash in the teat with a carving knife) i will always remember the child guzzling the massive bottle before bed, he was about 5 months old. Back then the weaning was started very early, wow the way we used to live! its soo different now! But it never had any adverse effects on any of us, each to their own i say:flower:

but can you really say it hasnt had adverse effects? the amount of people these days with digestive problems who would of been in the 'early weaning' age group. Just cause you dont have them doesnt mean others dont or you wont later in life

When I was a child and close to being the first generation to suffer from rice in bottles and early weaning, asthma and excema were just starting to emerage as a prominent childhood condition. Our parents hadn't really heard of it and it was still an unusual thing to come across. Nowadays it's more unusual if you don't have asthma, despite smoking and pollution being greatly reduced. I was born in 1972, right about the time that mortal man suddenly thought he knew better than mother nature about how to feed babies. I believe asthma and skin conditions are a hangover from our pompousness and arrogance.

I know I'm totally jumping on the end of this thread but i totally agree with you hun.

I'm so glad I live in 2011 and that extensive research has been done regarding early weaning and rice in bottles so that mums know the dangers ad the risks they are putting to their children.

Sadly tho many mothers are fully aware of these dangers but still decide to ignore them :(
