I wound up having all sorts of BFing complications that affected my milk supply: thrush infection, baby with tongue-tie, insufficient latch, etc. We figured it all out because at 8 weeks, Simon was underweight and I had a painful burning sensation in my nipples all the time.
I was sent to a specialist and she has me on domperidone (motilium) indefinitely for as long as I nurse.
I also now have to give Simon supplemental formula. It's all working - he's flourishing in the 75th percentile and is very happy, healthy and energetic. I definitely have more milk. It would have been great to have BF'd exclusively and to have had enough milk, but it didn't work out that way. Bummer, but what are you going to do, eh?
My question is more about experiences with this or other lactation meds. I could find out very little about this drug as a lactation aid when I googled it. Anyone else on it or know good sites for it?
I'm just a bit obsessive about researching stuff like this!
