Hi Ladies

Although we are now almost fully FF here (3 bottles per day), I still 'nurse' DD to sleep for naps and during the night. Has anybody else done this long term? If so, for how long?

I know it's probably a bad idea but she just will not nap without it. There isn't much milk left and tbh she doesn't really do it to feed but just for comfort.

Bedtime seems to be ok now she has a bath, bottle, bed routine and falls asleep drinking her bottle usually...the bath seems to exhaust her.

my lo is very nearly one i still let him suckle to sleep he wont take a dummy and i dont see the problem! it may cause bad habbits but wel break them as and when we need to! if your happy letting your baby suckle then id say carry on x x

Thank you. Does he actually feed still or just suckle to sleep?

Phoebe still nurses to sleep and I'm not going to worry about it unless it starts causing problems. She's still feeding though so I dont know if that's any help

Ihsan would always feed to sleep and sometimes still does if he is teething. He falls asleep himself for a nap it just bedtime. Until he was about 16 months he would be fully asleep before I put him down, after that he would drink a little milk then roll away saying bye and go to sleep. About 1 month ago he started getting into bed himself and pulling the covers up saying ni ni and closing his eyes pretending to be asleep but then actually falls asleep lol! He asks for milk most nights either just before bed or in bed (we co-sleep) but doesn't need it to fall asleep anymore. He is 20months x

Sometimes he will feed but slot of the time hel suckle especially if he's been asleep and woken up! I guess I'm his dummy I'm his prop to go to sleep and to get back to sleep! I don't mind though it hasn't caused us any problems and it's not harming anyone, obv I will stop at some point but not for a long time! I think it's soo nice that your lo still wants to suckle on you even though theirs no milk, what a lovely way to bond x

I fed (well, suckled is probably more accurate, as she didn't swallow much) Alice to sleep until last week when it started getting painful as I'm pregnant. We're on day 3 of DH taking over, and it has gone really smoothly. She still nurses before naps though. If you're happy with it, there's no need to change. Oh, and Alice turned 2 in August.

I still do it. Don't see the problem, personally.

I did and sometimes still do. However 9/10 she'll ask to lie down before she falls asleep in my arms now :(

Thanks ladies. I see nothing wrong either just worry that she will never go to sleep when she has to go to nursery etc, or when the day comes (probably in about 5 years LOL) when I get the opportunity to go out for an evening and need a babysitter.

i still bf my son to sleep ( and during the day) and he's coming to 10 months old now....
They's nothing wrong with it as long as you are both happy.
if you want to try stopping, you can try the gentle removal technique? Wait till she's sleepy and sucking slows down then take nipple out gently, if she wants it back give it to her but only until she's back to nearly being alseep and again and again anddddd aggggaaainnnnnnn :) they leanr to fall asleep without that way but they do anyways on their own.
