Anyone been put on steriods?

Hi all

I have had 3 previous MMC in past year last one was may 2012 with twins,I get to 8 weeks see strong heartbeats in every pregnancy then after 8 weeks my babies no longer have heartbeats?

Last dr I seen said if I fall pregnant again she may put me on steroids?


Anyone had this ?

Found out 3 days ago I am 5 weeks pregnant x

Hi Sandra. I am taking steroids for recurrent miscarriage.
I take 25mg of prednisolone daily. I imagine this is what your gp is talking about.
They basically lower your immune system to stop your immune system attacking the baby.
Main side effect is weight gain and some insomina for me, but it's a small price topay if it works for me.
There are lots of success stories and many girls I know on this thread now have their babies thanks to taking steroids
I'm 4 weeks pg and have been taking them for a week, goodluck and congratulations x.

Thank you I am off to hospital on Tuesday for a scan I will be 6 weeks by then and will start again on heparin but they are considering steroids good luck in your pregnancy x

hi hun...im in same boat as you except ive now had 6MC...and now this time ive been given utrogestan, ive also got to take heparin, asprin and folate.

All my preg's have been up to 8weeks healthy HB etc..then just end up losing baby..ive have been tested and everything has come back fine apart from im MTHFR so have to take heparin...

I havnt been giving steriods...but since you have i am going to mention it to my doc..

If it helps ladies. The steroid is called Presnisolone. You can google to get lots of info and can also Google Mr Shehata to see the protocol.

Goo luck to you both. I am booked in for my 6 week scan next Friday x.

Thanks leec I had my 6 week scan yesterday but was only measuring 5w4d so no heartbeat have to go back on Tuesday for another scan

Spoke to my consultant who said Livingston hospital in Scotland don't do steroids but Edinburgh royal do so waiting to hear from a consultant from there x
