I really want to get a doppler, for reassurance. I am hesitant though, thinking it might worsen my nervousness. I do not want to get upset, or freak out if I cannot find the hb, even though everything is ok.

For those of you who have one, how does/did it work out for you? Was it worth it? Did it cause obsession?

Thanks for your thoguhts!

Im thinking of getting a sonoline b if we can get far enough to use one - same as you am not sure if it'll reassure me or make me obsess :) so am interested in peoples responses - thanks for asking this question!

After having a MMC in December i have been so anxious in this pregnancy and bought a doppler, I waited until around 14 weeks as did not want to risk getting one too early and not picking up anything. I thought it might make me obsessive, it didnt as i just tried to limit using it intially to no more than 3 times a week. It really helped to calm me down if i was having a day when i was really feeling anxious. I recommend getting one, has really helped keep me sane in this pregnancy! I had one with my other pregnancy and can stay i have never had problems finding the heart beat, early on might take a litlle longer to find the heart beat - i just never try before around 14 weeks.

Hi

I got a doppler - couldn't find the hb at first ( about 15 weeks I think ) but having seen everyone's experiences I had promised myself I wouldn't panic so put it away for a couple of weeks and when I got it back out I found it straight away.

I haven't become obsessive tho - I don't use it every day but it has been a godsend when I have been worried.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the feedback. I guess it will take some self-control on my part - I just know I am not good at that when it comes to chocolate! :)

I'm kinda thinking that I won't get one as I might be too obsessive, but may ask midwife at next appointment to see what she thinks (waiting to see if we can hear hearbeat with her rather than buy one first)

I bought a Sonoline B (3 mhz) after my OB was able to pick up the heartbeat on their doppler. I got mine about 12.5 weeks and used it, heard it the HB within a minute of looking. I used it a few days later, and am trying not to use it for at least another couple days. It is definitely nice reassurance, but having your own doppler definitely makes it hard not to use daily. If you have strong will power, you should be fine buying one.

I bought one too and have not yet been able to find a heartbeat but I am a little early for it I think. I have surprisingly been able to keep my head on the right track even though I haven't heard it yet. I think because I know that its a matter of chance just now and even trained professionals would possible have a hard time as well. I think Sue247 has the right idea!

i had one i dont see the problem with using it ??? i used it i would say more than every hour but so what if you get obsessed will do no damage to baby at all

I bought an Angelsounds after my doctor didn't check for a hb at my 12 week appointment. I now don't think I actually heard the heart until 14 weeks but it was so amazing when we did! I am so glad I bought one! We finally got to hear the heartbeat in the docs office yesterday at 16.5 which was incredible AND it let me know that I was listening to the right thing at home. :)

i bought angelsounds one, not tried it out properly yet as far too early to hear bean but got it there for in a few weeks!! x

I brought an Angelsounds doppler with my last pregnacy but never got a chance to use is as i MC at 11 weeks but really looking forward to cracking it open in a few months. Thanks for the advise though i will leave it until 13-14 weeks to give it a go. Going to be stressed enought without adding to it.
