The 9 Benefits of Dong Quai Almost No One is Aware Of
by BodyEcology.com

Dong Quai is a traditional Chinese herbal remedy that is growing more popular here in the Western world.

Why it's gaining popularity has much to do with the tremendous benefits for both men and women. In fact, dong quai has been touted as a cure for infertility, hot flashes and maybe even cancer.1

Nicknamed the "female ginseng" because of its benefits for women, dong quai is also effective for men's fertility.

Whether you are a man or a woman, here's what you need to know about dong quai and to improve your health now:

1. Balances estrogen levels. Dong quai is the premier "gynecological regulator." It has the ability to reduce your estrogen levels if they are too high and can increase them if they are too low.

2. Excellent blood tonic. Master herbalist, Ron Teeguarden, attributes the blood toning and nourishing effects of dong quai to its amazing vitamin and mineral content. Dong quai contains vitamin B 12, folic acid, folinic acid, nicotinic acid, and biotin.
Dong quai is helpful after any injury or surgery to replenish your red blood cells and increase blood volume. It's included in nearly all Chinese herbal blood-building formulas.

3. Treats iron deficiency and anemia. The cobalt in dong quai is thought to increase the hemoglobin content of your blood. (Hemoglobin is the protein in your blood that contains iron and carries oxygen to cells and carbon dioxide from them.)

4. Boosts male fertility. Ferulic acid, an antioxidant found in dong quai, has been shown to improve sperm quality.

5. Essential during and after menstruation. Dong quai is an antispasmodic that eases cramps and other symptoms of PMS. It dilates your blood vessels to increase flow during your monthly cleansing and helps replenish blood after your period has ended.

Women who stop taking birth control pills may also find dong quai useful to encourage a regular cycle.

6. Helps you feel happier! Dong quai is effective at reducing anxiety and could be useful to help you combat stress and reduce the severity of mood swings. It has a calming effect on your nervous system and promotes relaxation.

7. Enhances female fertility. Only a generation ago, infertility was rare, but now it takes the average woman up to18 months to conceive. Women often seek the help of expensive fertility specialists and undergo painful procedures when an antifungal diet and an herb like dong quai may be all that are needed.

8. Keeps you beautiful and youthful. Chinese women are known for their age-defying youthfulness, and dong quai may be a big part of it. Dong Quai preserves your natural beauty by encouraging health from the inside out.

Ron Teeguarden notes that Dong Quai increases circulation, improves your complexion, and aids detoxification to clear blemishes.

9. Treats alopecia, eczema and rosacea. Dong Quai's effect on the blood and circulation also prompts healing for common skin conditions like eczema and rosacea, neurodermatitis, pruritis, hives and vitiligo.

No I have 2 dc, a boy and a girl, 5 and 3 yrs old. But the youngest will be in JK full time beginning Sept so even if I get preggo next cycle, I would be due late Dec/early Jan and I know it's not in my hands, but I would love to not have wait too long because it would be perfect timing to have a baby while both my kids are in school FT which would mean I'd have plenty of time to give the baby attention, kwim??

Yes I'm charting, temping, my chart is in my link in my siggy.

BTW I checked your chart (your previous cycle), and I don't believe you O'd on the day you marked you O'd. Only because your + opks go past your set O day. IMO I think you O'd CD 14 or 15 based on your OPKS and CM so technically that wouldn't have made AF late. Have you ever temped?? Do you always know when you O?

Going to post about Dong quai in my next post.[/QUOTE]

Yeah I messed up the opk last cycle I did everything wrong. I am vowing that I will start temping from tomorrow onwards as well as start the opks around day 10.

Just beware, temping can be very addictive and make you more obsessive, if you are already!lol

however, i love having to look back at charts and see 'complete' cycles, and know exactly when I O'd. So it is a good thing too.

Well I want to temp so I can get the crosshairs and know when I O.
Last month was so confusing I thought it might help me.
I charted with my last two children and it was successful for us. i figure doing that and the opk and I should be on track this month.

Just waiting for AF to finish and to get to day 8 so we can start trying for our baby.

Dong quai sounds good, I might try that. Do you just get it at your local vitamin and health store?

Dong quai should be avail at your vit/herbal store. There is a health food store close to me where they have every possible vit/herb that you can think of. I love that place.

If you don't mind me asking how long did it take to conceive your first 2? With me, 4 cycles with ds (3rd cycle was a m/c) and 6 cycles with dd.

Alright girls, I'm squeezing in this post because I need TTC buddies too.
I've tried OPK but didn't get any positive. Any luck on your side ?:happydance:

Im not to upset about it im sure glad she showed I was 6 days late and knew I wasnt pregnant so now I can get on with it. :winkwink:

yeah, i can understand that. I'm CD35 and AF doesn't seem to be around. I have backpain and cramps tho. I hope it'll be there soon so I can try again.

I can be your buddy but I am not cd1 I am cd12 and will be testing on the 16th April.... I am in BC.

Hi goddess25..good luck with the testing on the 16th, hoping for bfp for you.
I'm due to test on the 23rd, but heck haven't even started :sex: yet lol

Well AF arrived for me 3 days ago. I totally expected it, because no symptoms for me. I was so ready for it to start and really want to try extra hard this cycle. I will taking dong quai and vitex (AC) this cycle and I pray I will O earlier than my last cycle. Fed up with long cycles. Because it was such a long cycle, our bd timing was not so great as I couldn't figure out when I'd O (see my chart).

Hope this is the month for all us ladies!

How we doing gals?

Me and hubby just started the baby dancing and I am hoping to O anyday now.
Where is everybody else at?

Hi all! Another Canadian here - in Alberta. CD1 unfortunately. Ready to give it another go this month again. Looks like a lot of the girls here are getting ready to test? Hope it goes well for all!

I am just waiting for O time to come..... not sure when it will arrive, since I am hoping the soy will shorten my cycle.

My AF was really odd after the chemical
