I will be feeding 8 people this year, TBH I am crapping myself LOL!!

We are getting a beautiful free range Turkey from a friends farm so I know it will taste good anyway, but i want it to be awesome!!

Ive ordered all the spices for it already!

Also, you know how Nigella put it in a bucket and put it outside for the night, I'm planning on doing this, obviously taped down cos we have a group of cats in our street!

will it be kept cold enough? Dont want anyone getting food poisoning from my turkey!

I think Blah11 done it last year.. Maybe message her to ask.

96yeh, i did it last year. didnt put it outside though, just turned the radiator off in our WC and left the window open.. it was freeeeezing in there!

ahhh might feel safer doing that! I'm scared I'll wake up to a half eaten Turkey with the amount of cats round here!!

Same here plus we have quite a few foxes too and theyd well be able to get into a bucket!

The recipe makes the turkey delicious btw. Really moist.

I did it a few years back and tbh, I didn't think it was worth the effort. Now I only use kelly bronze turkeys, they take much less cooking than 'regular' turkeys and are bloody gorgeous!!!! Tasty, moist meat, really lovely juices (I like turkey dripping on toast for boxing day breakfast and this is the best I have found!!) plus the carcass makes the most unbelievable stock!

What effort?! Dumping some spices in a bucket of water

Maybe you could try it with a smaller turkey before hand then you would know x

I did it last year for the first time with a turkey crown and OMG it was delicious. My hubby and even my parents commented on how juicy and tasty it was. I will definately do it again this year and every year. If you dont have time around xmas do what I did - measure all the dry ingredients out and put them in an airtight container until Xmas eve, then on Xmas eve all you have to do is chuck them in the water with the other bits and bobs - easy!

oohh Whiby! I was just thinking tonight that Nigella should sell a little bag with all the spices in it and then we wouldn't have to buy them all separate!

Good idea, will definitely be doing that! :D

You could try it with a chicken before hand too :) works just as well.
