Ive posted this in TTC as well but thought maybe there's more info on this in here....

Ive got an apmt for testing next friday. And although i do know they do blood tests for things like 'sticky blood' etc i really have no idea what to expect.

Id be very grateful if someone could give me some pointers...

I'd also quite like to know too, im still waiting for an appointment with the gyne. I've been told about the lap n dye where they check to see if your tubes are blocked.

you can get pregnant so i dnt think ud have that option..

there are loads of diff tests depends on how many m/cs u have theres all the blood tests that check your white blood cells, red blood cells. Horome test, all the tests 2 do with pregnancy see if ur lacking in anything

then theres the deeper tests for genetics. all chromosome defect, and defecs u may carry that gets passed on. may even take m/c tissue for testsing but thats if uhave had 3+ m/cs

If your tubes are blocked, you would not be able to get pregnant. However, they do the xray and dye test (HSG) to see the structure of your uterus (normal/abnormal) or if you have any scar tissues, or anything else evasive inside your uterus that would make it difficult for an embryo to attach or grow. Typically, miscarriages caused by uterus defect (which is what HSG is testing) occur in early second trimester though. So I chose not to have it done because mine occured in the first trimester. Also, the procedure is VERY painful!!!!! I had the endometrial biopsy done, and it's the same... they stick a catether (sp) up your cervix in which it reacts by contracting. If you want to be reminded of your m/c pain, this is it!

Holy crap! I do not wanna be reminded of the mc pain as mine was off the scale!... but i guess needs must. Like you Charlie's mum, my mc's were early so i suspect its gonna be a blood thing if they're gonna find anything at this stage, seeing as they wont do genetic testing til after 3 mc's.

In past ultrasounds ive been told my uterus looks normal and very even but i am well aware its not s thorough as a testing ultrasound so it could really mean didley, lol!

Fingers crossed!

And thanks for answering girls..i really do appreciate it. Its better going in with some idea than none. Oh, and be prepared for whatever (thanks Tracie :))

I have been tested. I was offered an HSG (because I wasn't getting pregnant on my own and to check for scarring in uterus to see if that is why the pregnancies weren't lasting), blood work, endometrial biopsy, and genetic testing.

I havent, just wanted to drop you a :hugs: and say i hope you get your answers really soon.

Just wanted to wish you good luck for your appointment. When I had my first appointment with the consultant for recurrent early miscarriage it was very straight forward. He asked lots about family history and discussed how he would try to help. The first stage was to be sent for lots of blood tests, I cant what I was tested for, but they took 9 vials of blood! I then had a follow up appointment 6 weeks later to discuss the results and discuss genetic testing. We were fortunate to find out the problem following the blood tests so didnt go any further, but had close follow up care with the same consultant once I did get pregnant. I hope it goes well for you too

Good luck Naomi. That is brilliant that they are testing you.

I have had blood work already at the docs for thyroid, diabetes, family history and clotting which came back zilch.

I have a docs appointment on friday to see if they can refer me after 2 mcs and I have an appt with a gyno next Monday for a 'chat'. I am trying to gather as much info together as I can.

Hello ive had 2 m/c and have blood tests done they tested for quite alot of things, they all came back negative which is a good thing, they said theres no problems. but if i had a m/c they would take me in for a investigation but hopefully i dont and pray this will not happen, goodluck to you xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I know a lot of girls have gone on here complaining that nothing has been done for them (which is of course terrible) but i am just chuffed that im getting some proactive action when i could very well have been part of a statistic doomed to get on with it on my own.

Thanks for all the well wishes, ive gotten loads of advice and its helped me lots!

I had 4 mcs and 1 ectopic and then they did a lap and dye. One of my tubes was blocked, it was removed and now I'm pregnant (with only one working tube and only one ovary that ovulates).

I had genetic testing, hormone testing, every kind of testing you can imagine. They monitored me during my cycles (to see ovulation etc) and they sent off my mcs for autopsy. In the end there were no solid answers anyway.

Thanks Faerie!

I wont get genetic testing as ive not reached the unfortunate number of 3 (its crap really, that i think). But i was told i will get blood tests done so im just gonna have to wait and see. I also do know that the actual figues for finding anything are rather small..but like said, im glad something is being looked into rather than nothing at all :)

Omi I forgot to say, make sure you get the consultant(or doc or whoever you see) to agree to follow you closely when you do get pregnant, even if they find nothing wrong from the results of your test. I was told by my consultant I could get an early reassurance scan booked as soon as I hit 6 weeks pregnant, fingers crossed you will book one in soon

Thanks Doodles, i know the nurse that heads this clinic does excellent follow up during pg so i hope i will be offered it too!
