i am terrified of having a natural birth for several reasons and am considring asking my consultant if i can be booked in for a c section instead, my midwife seems to think wont be a problem although she said the consultant will naturally try and disuade me .. does anyone else feel the same way and have you asked/are you planning to ask for a c section, if so what was the reaction?

reasons i will give:

lost baby at 20 weeks with subsequent miscarriages, feel as if i have gone through enough and i just want to get this one out asap
had traumatic 36 hr labour with my daughter 11 yrs ago - im now 3 stones heavier and 11 yrs older!
this baby is quite big, just worried will end up having to have an emergency c section in the end anyway
very anxious about having a natural birth, and all that can go wrong even thinking about it raises my stress levels

i realise c sections dont come without their own risks, but at this time i feel its the right way for my baby to be delivered

i had my first antenatal on wednesday and immediately asked my consultant for a c-section, i delivered Lilly-Maye naturally but as she was stillborn and it being due to cord accident i am terrified of even trying to go naturally again. i know she had already passed away 3 days before i gave birth so it wasn't an issue of the cord in labour, but i am not willing to take the risk so for me it was a given that i would be asking. they have agreed to deliver me at 36weeks and were very understanding.
at the end of the day you have to go with what feels right for you, hugs

You need to do what is right for you and bubs...this is absolutely no one elses choice other than your own.

Having had a c-section myself the recovery should not be under-estimated, but the physical trauma of a c-section can sometimes be less invasive than the trauma to your heart and soul brought about by still birth, miscarriage and traumatic birth.
C-sections emotionally bring their own challenges, but only you will know what is right for you.
Best if luck- I'm sure you agree with me though that when it comes to it at the end of the day- all we want is a screaming, healthy bub in our arms - regardless of how they end up arriving!

- this time 'round I'm trying for a VBAC - and although we've had losses my head space is ready - different circumstances like I said though hun.

I had an emergency C -section wiht my first. I had a mmc August 2009. I have/had similar feelings to you and initially, when given the choice, opted for a section. However, I am now seeing a VBAC midwife next week as the consultant did everything to dissuade me. It's annoying though. They gave me the option, I made a choice and then when I informed them of my choice, filled me full of doubt about my decision so I'm back to square one again reconsidering all the options.

I think I'm telling you this, so should you want a section, you're more prepared for the attempts to dissaude ou from all qaurters. My Midwife also tried to persuade me to try for a natural birth. When you make up your mind, stick to your guns.

Good luck. I think in your circumstances, they should consider your request.
