I successfuly made it to 6 months despite supply drops during my period starting at 2 months post partum. this time during my period it happened again no big deal Ive learned how to deal with it now, but the problem is my periods been over for almost 2 weeks and my supply never came back. I did start the mini pill birth control right after my period. I also have been exercising pretty vigorously as well every day going on 3 weeks now. I have been very conscious of my diet trying to make sure I eat enough calories a day, but despite my efforts it just doesnt seem to be coming back! I am comfortable introducing formula to my baby now I was just wondering if there are any mothers out there doing the same thing? just nice to talk about it with others :)

I pump and supplement with formula when I don't make enough. I average about 40oz/day but the babies have their days where they just want to eat and eat. I was sad about giving formula but I know it's nearly impossible with twins not to supplement to some degree.

Perhaps it is the pill and you need to try a different one or a different method of contraception?

I do when shes going through a growth spurt and I cant pump enough for when I'm at work.

I'm supplementing because it looks like I have low milk supply (I'm being referred to a breast Specialist to confirm). I was gutted to begin with, but realise now my baby needs food and it doesn't really matter how he gets it as long as he is happy and healthy. I use a nursing system during the day, lo feeds from me and receives formula at the same time. Could this be an option for you? It's supposed to help with your supply because baby is stimulating you whilst getting milk, rather than just giving a bottle :) whatever works for your family will be the right choice x

I do both. Only do two bf's a day now at nearly 6month. This is by choice as I don't want to be say on the pump the rest of the day getting sad at how little comes out, and I know he gets a good feed at morning and night from me as my bb's feel really full. Only had one period :-/. Using condoms for bc for the time being x

My LO is 4 month, he was EBF till last week. He now gets 3/4oz of formula before bed. All his other feeds are boob. I felt so guilty and like I was failing when he drank his bottle of formula. However by the end of the day he wasn't getting a good big feed from me, therefore waking 4-5 times a night for a feed.

Since introducing formula he only wakes 2 times a night, once at 4am and then at 6am. He is happier and better rested....also I am much happier.

I have accepted my decision to give a bit of formula now, it's what works best for you and LO.

I started giving dd2 firmula around 9pm and she sleeps 7 hours. This has onlybeen the last 3 days but i have enjoyed the extra sleep. By night i am empty from her feeding all day and tired with having 2 under 2 so gave inti formula. And DH likes it cause then he gets a chance to feed her and get a good cuddle after!

I pump at work and cannot keep up with lo's demands. I've starting adding a little formula this week to help. He gets 3.5 oz of breast milk with 1.5 oz of formula mixed in with it. He is no longer flying through his bottles and I'm less stressed about how much I'm pumping. I like that he is still getting mostly breastmilk but gets that little extra he needs.

I think making it too sux months is pretty damn good!
We've given a bottle of formula st bedtime since early days due to low supply but I'm considering increasing it now he's six months. He didn't gain any weight last month and I'm concerned my supply has dropped again.
