I previously had a blighted ovum and now I am pregnant again (6 weeks 3 days). My doctor ran my progesterone levels and they are a 7.4. The nurse I spoke with stated that they would like for them to be around a 16-20, so they put me on oral supplements (100 mg) twice daily. Of course, after she told me this I googled low progesterone and FREAKED OUT because it looks like that is either a symptom of a pending miscarriage or a cause of miscarriage. She assured me that I would be fine and that we would see a little baby on the ultrasound next week. But now I am freaking out b/c my symptoms seemed to have vanished and now I'm afraid I am having another blighted ovum. HELP!! Anyone else have low progesterone and not miscarry?

The hard thing about progesterone levels is that they can indicate an impending miscarriage or it could be something that could be fixed with taking extra progesterone. I have never been diagnosed with low progesterone, but after 5 early losses my doctor put me on the same level of progesterone supplements just in case. I had them for one of my pregnancies that ended in miscarriage but my latest pregnancy is going well so far.
I am sorry that there are no set answer about this. And hope that you see a beautiful little heart beating away at your scan.

Wishing you all the very best x

I am taking 200mg twice a day orally. I took this same dose last time after my progesterone came back at 6.8 @ 19 dpo. I ended up having a BO.

This time my Dr. had me taking 200mg once daily during my LP and upped the dose to twice daily when I got my BFP. @ 11dpo my progesterone was 31.4 and @ 17dpo it was 39. I don't go for my early U/S until Feb 20th, so I won't know until then if this one will stick.

I have heard of so many women who carried healthy pregnancies after having low progesterone and starting supplements, so I don't think you can tell which way it will go. But it is definately a good sign that they caught your problem and can start treating you. Good Luck! FX'd for a nice sticky bean.
