Whenever I wear anything that puts the slightest amount of pressure on my ribs I become in agony. I can barely wear a bra for the pain, it takes my breath away and just throbs all day.
I know it isnt that I am wearing the wrong size because I have a maternity nightie that is very very slightly elasticated round there and even that sets it off.
I still have 2 weeks left of work and really dont know how I will be able to cope with my bra for these last two weeks :-(.

Has anyone else had this and did you find any ways around it?? xx

Yes! I have the same problem. I look forward to whipping it off at the end of the day! Haven't come up with a solution though I'm afraid. And now I have a really itchy patch just under my boob which is driving me mad and made worse by wearing a bra. Aaarrrgh.

Can you perhaps look for a support vest, which has structure built in so you don't have to wear a bra?
I've bought some nighttime nursing bras so they are all soft, a bit like a crop top from mothercare that seem really comfy... maybe you could try those?

I wasn't as bad, but a while back I did find that at about lunchtime in work, my back would be aching around my bra strap, and I could barely sit still for longer than a few minutes. I got measured for a new larger bra but that didn't really help until I started wearing bra extenders as well.

Is your pain only when sitting or is it as bad lying down or standing as well? Because I'm starting to think that my bra being a bit tight wasn't fully to blame for the pain - that it was the pressure from my bump causing it, especially because I was carrying so high up for most of my pregnancy. I haven't had the pain at all since I dropped which backs that up.

I found that stretching really helped when the pain was at its worst - I'd get up at least once an hour and go into the bathroom and stretch out my back, and that would tide me over for another little while. The bra extenders helped as well, and my physio recommended one of those microwaveable wheat packs to me as the heat really helps.

Thanks girls, I did pick up some supported vest tops yesterday, but they were way too small so taking them back today to swap for a bigger size.... although they also have elastic so worried they may still be painful... although I am thinking of going for a much bigger size.

The pain is worse when I am sitting down and my bump is also very high, so i dont think that helps too much, but as soon as I undo my bra the pain goes.

A friend also had this and said it went as soon as she had had her baby so I suppose there is some hope.

oh the relief in the evening when i open my bra aaaaaaahhhhh heaven lol

but evenwhen im not wearing a bra i still feel lie i am hahahaha

yeh i have this problem. i hate wearing bras now and only wear one when i really have to

I also only wear one when I really have to. I felt like I was suffocating every time I wore a bra for a couple of months so avoided it even going to work at times (I can deal with the pain, but not the restriction to my lungs).

At the moment, I measure a 36. I wear a 38 at the maximum clasp and if I could go up one more I would (my boobs aren't big as I was a 30C pre-pregnancy and they haven't grown so now they're As or smaller, which you can't get in size 40). The only reason I even need a bra is to hide my nipples, so I just buy the really cheapie non-underwire bras with no padding and put the removable paddings from my workout tops into the cheapie bras. I even forget to take the bras off after coming home most days now so that's the most comfortable option I've found (aside from staying in my bathrobe all day, which is still the best option).

I also have this problem and am currently in a 20E which will probably go up when my milk comes in. I am wearing a maternity bra but the band below my boobs feels like it puts too much pressure on the top of my belly/ribs and it aches & gives me heartburn, im always finding myself ripping my bra off when i'm out, too bad for everyone else!

I had this problem but when I wore a softer bra or no bra (at night for example) my back would kill me because my breasts are so big. I took to wearing a hardcore sports bra with adjustable straps. Lesser of two evils. It still bothers me but at least I don't have the excruciating back pain anymore. I still look forward to whipping it off at the end of the day though :D

Yes i hate bras!! They are so so uncomfortable and make my nausea/breathing worse. I suggest buying bra extenders and have as many as you can to make yourself comfortable. That's the only way i have gotten around it, although it's still not very comfy. :/

When I was pregnant with DD I couldn't wear a bra for the last 8 weeks or so, she was pushing her feet into my ribs (so much so that after I had her I had a giant gap in my ribs where her foot had been) so I took to wearing a sports bra when I HAD to wear a bra and I wore tops with built in support when I was in the house.

It is now starting again, I went to get measured today and I have gone up two back sizes and two bra sizes but even the maternity bra was so uncomfy to wear. My mission is to find a comfy bra, and failing that I will buy a sports bra.

I often these days undo my bra when I finish work and walk home with it undone, it is soo much more comfy

xXx

I just ordered a bigger size bra, non underwired soft cup and im hoping this will help, im curently wearing the wrong size and im using bra extenders, my ribs always hurt, i cried earlier from getting really fustrated and just took it off and decided not to go out!!

I've succumb to sports bras that latch in the front. I just can't deal with regular bras at this point.

Yep i'm just gonna repeat what everyone else said lol mine hurt me really bad, even with bra extenders (infact it's around that extender part it hurts even when the bra's got a little bit of give). I only wear them if I have to go out for a day, otherwise I just wear my maternity sleep bra - doesn't offer miles of support but I don't really go jumping around! It's mainly to hold breast pads in place xxx

I hate wearing mine too, it's agony :-( I bought a non underwired maternity bra in a bigger back size hoping this would help but no joy. I have to whip mine off when I get home from work and only have 4 days to till mat leave now so intend to just let it all hang out from then on

ok... i cant say mine are painful at the moment but this is new to me....
I just cant get used to my boobs having a chat with my tummy!
Its bugging the hell out of me! I'm so used to having little boobs and when they grew in 1st tri.... now they have meetings with my tummy and its just not comfy!!!!!! :haha:

I know its gonna get worse once LO comes too :dohh:

LMAO! I agree, even though my boobs are still small. Never before in my life have I ever understood "the pencil test". I do now, though it's mainly my belly coming up to meet my boobs, and not the other way around.:haha:
