Anyone else waiting for laproscopy surgery?

Hope all goes well Candygal.:hugs: Here's hoping that it results in a BFP soon after!
Lawer chick, I dont mind that my surgery was booked for a few months away, as I feel like we have another chance to try before the surgery and hopefully wont need to have it! Im really worried though, because as its worked out, my surgery is booked for a few days after ovul. What happens if by chance I do fall pregnant? They said they'll check first, but if Im only a few days it wont show up yet :(

Hi Ladies!!!

We haev been trying for 5 months, not long, I know, but I'm so impatient!! My Gynae is awesome, went in to see him after 4 months of trying and he said 'cool, lets get everything checked out and take it from there.' My DH and I both had a whole lot of blood tests which came back ok. I have some thyroid antibodies, but a low level so they aren't worried that it'll impair our chances. My DH did a SA and the doc said that his sperm "wouldn't win any competitions", but that the count and motility are both good, but morphology is slightly below what is considered ideal. He reckon's its just a matter of time though. I had scans which were all good, and I'm booked in for a LAP on 15 March if I don't get a BFP this cycle.

A lot of ladies have said its quite quick to do all this, but my doc's opinion is 'why would you want to waste any time?', and I'm with him on that. I'd rather check EVERYTHING early on and know its ok, than not check and only find out later that there was an issue.

Good luck to all you ladies!!!

Hi Gals,

I had my Lap and OD yesterday , all went well and i have passed with flying colors :) :).

I would like to write down my exp, it could be helpful for others..

1. I had my app scheduled at 11:30, I was there at the hospital by 11:35.
2. Reported at the reception, was asked to be seated in the reception for close to 30 mins.
3. Then the nurse will take you to your room and give you some details.
4. Then had to wait for a while. waiting in the hospital gets very frustrating at times.
5. staff nurse would come to make you feel comfy, monitor your temp and bp. She would also like to understand when did i last consume food, bring the dressing gown, give you your stockings and slippers [ if you dont bring it along with you]
5. The doctor who is going to operate you would come to check if we are doing good. You will feel very nice seeing the doc before the op. If you have any questions you can def ask him there. I had also planned to ask a lot of questions but my mind goes blank when i see him.
5. Waiting period again :( :(..
6. Another staff nurse would come to take a Pregnancy test.
7. So we kept waiting from 11:35 to 2:15.
8. Then came the doctor [ who gives anasthesia], doctor would collect some basic details from you as like do you smoke, when did you have your food etc etc, really simple things to answer here.
9. Then we need to change our clothes and wear the surgery gown[ which will have back open] then on top of that wear the dressing gown [ similar to the one you wear after coming out of shower], remove your bra, you can keep your panties on.

10. Another nurse will come to give your medicines [ paracetamol and some pain killer] , you need to have 4 tablets with 1/4th cup of water...
11. Finally another nurse came to take me to theater..Me and hubby were a little terrifed here as the momemt for which we were waiting for so long has arrived.. but i tried to remain calm and cool.
11. Then i went to the loo, took off my panties and went along with the nurses [ 2 of them now]
12. I was now taken to the anasthesia room, my heart is beating fast now.. But the nurses and the other staff will keep you engaged in some conversation.
Another doctor will be preparing to give you anasthesia. They will let you know when they are giving it. After that i was awake for 3-5 secs. I didnt know when i fell asleep.

13. So the doctor is now operating on me :) :)
14. When i woke up in the recovery room i saw the clock , the time was 3:30, i thought to myself why am i still waiting to get the surgery done. I asked the nurse if the surgery was over and she said "yes it is". :). I was relived.
15. I had pain similar in my lower abdomen, felt like i was going to get my periods any time soon. i told the nurse , she gave me some medicines.
16. After that the pain faded away. I was feeling drowsy, but kept myself awake as i wanted to be in my room.
17. Then i was taken to my room, had some water. I had sore throat. had some water, was feeling drowsy.
18. Then came TEA :) , i was feeling fresh after drinking tea.
19. We were still curious to know the results.
20. Kept talking to my poor hubby who was just waiting for me in the room through out.
21. I was given some sandwich to eat, but really didnt feel like eating anything.
21. Nurse would come to check your bp and temp a lot of times with frequent intervals.
22. The the doctor came to see him, i was happy to see him again and but we were curious too.
23. He told me that everytihng looked fine, no tube blocks but my left ovary was stuck to the pelvic bone.. he didnt know why it was like that. but he has corrected it now. he showed some pictures to me. i saw that there were 5 holes in my ovary.
24. I have another appt after 4 weeks.
24. I was ready to go home after i pee..
25. Drank lots of water, initially had trouble trying to pee , but i kept going to loo "n" number of times.. finally after few tries i could urinate.. I felt so happy.
26. So i have crossed this hurdle as well..
27. I hope i will get my periods regularly.

If you want any more info then let me know. i would be happy to share.

plastikpony - i think you have your surgery today , i hope all goes well. good luck.
Let us know how it goes ....

Thanks CandyGal!! Great info.

I had my lap yesterday, was actually a more relaxed experience than I expected! I won't go through the whole process, sine it was very similar to CandyGals!

With me they found that both tubes are open, which is good news, but that I have mild endometriosis, not so good! The doc says he removed the problem bits (I was still vey drowsy when I saw him!) and that its a good thing we did the surgery. I'm going to make an appointment to see him on Thursday to discuss the details and 'the way forward'. It made me nervous when he said that!! I really would prefer not to do Iui or ivf unless I really have to!!!

CandyGal, how are you feeling after the lap? My lower abdomen is really sore and I'm getting the most awful shoulder pains!! Normal I hear. Got some great pain killers and separate anti-inflamatories tha I have to give myself as a suppository. Ewww!!! Surprisingly easy, actually :haha:

Plastikpony - yes, its good that you got this surgery done at the early stages... Lets see what the doctor has to say on thursday...

I am feelign very tired today as well.. unable to stand for a while.. i had very little shoulder pain.. n my belly button hurts when i stand up or sit down..

also i noticed that i had some blood discharge today morning.. i noticed some blood on the the day of my surgery , nothign yesterday, and the first thing i notice today morning is the blood discharge...

Hi,

Looks like i have got my periods, its def not spotting, and its not very heavy.but still i would assume that i am having my periods.

Is it normal to get your periods within days after the surgery ??Gals pls throw some light....

CandyGal, I was told that I would bleed after the surgery (and I have been) but that it is t due to a period, it's because they disturb and sometimes manipulate your uterus. So yes, it's normal to bleed but not because you have your period. They also said that I had to wear pads and not tampons for this bleed so that I don't risk getting an infection.

I'm still pretty sore today, but the shoulder pains are getting better and I'm trying to move around a bit more. Supposed to be going to a comedy festival tonight but laughing hurts so much!!!

Hi Plastikpony - is your bleed similar to you getting your periods ?
I have to def use pads and i need atleat 2-3 a day....

enjoy your comedy festival tonight , but you need to be very careful while laughing....

Bleeding is very much the same as my period usually is!! I've ordered a bbt thermometer that I'm going to pick up early next week, that way I'll know for sure what's going on with my cycle!!

Hi Plastikpony - how are you ??
whats the update from your end ?? did you get your periods ??

I GOT MY PERIOD!!!! Oh happy day!! First time in 6 months that I didn't sit on the loo crying, I actually did a little dance! CD 1 of the first month that I know for sure that I actually have a chance! I am SO SO happy right now. I get to start my clomid soon, DH and I have been BRILLIANT about taking all our vitamins. We're taking this stuff the Gynae prescibed call Staminogro (we call it spermigro, coz its supposed to help his little swimmerss), I have us both taking Omega 3, biotin c (but that's just for hair, skin and nails), a daily vitamin supplement and iron. I also take folic acid and ectorin. And SOON I get to add clomid to the mix! I think I'm going to stop drinking caffine and really limit my alcohol intake to give things a boost this month. EEEEK!!!!

Oh, and I bought opk's this month!! Only 5 though, they are expensive! I also got a new bbt therm but I'm nervous coz apparently clomid can play havoc with your temps. Plus hubby hasn't gone to collect it for me yet!! Grr!! AND pre-seed! Lots of it! YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!!

I ended up being 4 or 5 days late, not too hectic, luckily :) How are the rest of you ladies doing?

Hi Girls,
Just a quick update. I had my lap done last wed. Apparently all looks fairly good. Just a little endo, that they burnt off. Not sure how to feel about it. Very happy that there is nothing unfixable wrong, but confused as to where to go from here. The gyno said to go away and try for 3 months, then if nothing to come back. Could only minor endo be enough to stop things?
Still pretty sore around the wounds and getting minor cramping. How long did you girls take before you felt normal again?
Good to hear things are going well plastikpony. Fingers crossed for you this month!
x

just had my lap&dye/hysteroscopy: all seems to be clear so am puzzled whether i needed this done at all. I was told not to have sex at all from CD1 to the day of operation, was not hard for me as I had it on CD5. they did it during my period but bleeding was not heavy so it was ok, i bled a little following the procedure. my usual periods are 6 days so expect smth to come out tomorrow as well.

I was 4 months on the waiting list for my lap and TTC like there is no tomorrow hoping it wont come to lap... unfortunately no such luck

was a bit scared when they were administering the anesthetic but it was a matter of seconds and i was out, was freezing when i woke up and terribly sore throat (still there), and quite a lot of pain, the nurse gave me morphine :) i thought i would get some sort of high from it, none whatsoever!

I have 2 cuts, 1 in belly button and one on bikini line but i have not taken the bandage off yet so not sure how bad they look.

Was discharged from the hospital on the same day but much later than everyone else (although I was the first in the operating theater). Maybe because I am petite it took longer for anesthetic to wear off, I was feeling dizzy for hours and could not eat anything. Now still have pain in my abdominal and right shoulder (gas effect) but all bearable probably wont even need painkillers tonight.

My previous scans showed that I had a cyct on my ovary, a large and possibly chocolate one. I had a bit of an argument with the surgeon before the procedure cos they said if the cyst has grown into the ovary they will have to remove the ovary. i could not agree to that. I have been TCC for ages with 2 ovaries and no pregnancy what are my chances with just one ovary? besides, even with this cyst my ovary was ovulating just fine so I firmly asked them to leave my ovary alone and if they cant remove my cyst without damaging the ovary than not to remove the cyst. It seems that the conversation was a bit academic cos the cyst turned out to be so small they could barely find it and when the did they decided not to bother with it at all.

they also said i could have D&C as my HSG showed some polypoid endometrium but when they got there they did not find any polyps and endometrium seemed fine, they took a bit of endometrium for biopsy though.

HSG was also inconclusive as to my right tube but dye confirmed it was fine.

so now what? if everything is ok why am i not pregnant?

on a positive side i still can try and ttc this cycle so my thoughts are with my CBFM right now, bring on those highs and peaks!

how strange my temp has gone up this morning and CBFM shows high on CD6!!! am I about to ovulate? or is it lap messing up with my temp and hormones? am in no state to BD today, still in quite a lot of pain (lap was just yesterday), will try to BD tomorrow.

BTW, for those who BD following the lap, did you manage to do it in the missionary position? My abdomen hurts a lot, cant imagine anyone pressing on it, what are the other suitable positions? ... sorry TMI

I didn't bd for two weeks after my lap! That's how long it took me to feel normal again. I had severe shouder pain for 3-5 days and after that was just really sore in my abdomen and aroud the incisions. I had 3, one in my belly button, one on my bikini line and one near my left ovary. They did a lot of burning off of endo with me, even though I was only stage 2. It covered 90% of both my ovaries and there was some on my uterus too.

Bushbunny, where was your endo? If it was on your ovaries it can definately have an effect on fertility. There are also some studies saying that endo can change the uterine environment do that it is not conducive to conception, but they are not conculsive.

Briss, my mom stuggled to get pregnant for 5 years, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with her. She had a lap after 2 years of trying and they found nothing strange at all. Eventually she fell preggers with my sister after 5 years, then she conceived me on my sisters 1st birthday and my brother 11 years later by mistake!!! Try to keep positive and be healthy, that's all the advice I can give you! Has your other half had a semen analysis?

plastikpony, thank you for your advice, am trying to keep positive and do all I can to make it happen, my DH's sperm is on the low side may be that's the reason.

Oh two weeks! I cant wait that long as O upon me and I do not want to miss this opportunity, pain or no pain. Am thinking that we could probably start "outside" and finish "inside" to reduce the impact... sorry again TMI. Am also slightly concerned that they have taken a part of endometrium for biopsy, it is a wound right? how bad is it to get spermies in there right away? not sure, besides am still bleeding... although because they did not actually do anything the surgeon said I could potentially start TTC as soon as I feel up to it

My DH has loads of spermies, and the motility is great, but the morphology is just slightly below normal. I like to think that it's all good coz he's got so many extra :haha: If you feel up to it, I say go for it!! I was devastated that there was a whole cycle where there was absolutely no chance because I was just to sore during ovulation!! To tell the truth, when we did eventually do it, I was actually scared. That's how sore I had been. Luckily it was just abou painless, and felt like normal.

I'm so excited!! I just got my first positive opk, ever! (Mainly becuase this is the first month I've been doing them)!!

Now I'm going to have to figure out some sneaky moves to pull on DH! We already dtd this morning, so it should be ok if we only bd again tomorrow, right?

it looks like your DH's spermies are fine and plenty so you can BD as often as you want, even more often than once a day :) I have been following different BD strategies and for this cycle I planned every other day during highs and everyday during peaks. A bit concerned that I am sore when peeing, not sure if this is normal?

I was told with mine i wasn't allowed to bd for 3 weeks?? Which doesnt bother me though caus i had my lap just after ov so ive still got af to come before its time to try again, so plenty of time to recover. I think id be a little scared to try so soon Briss, are you still sore at all? If your still sore from weeing, id be popping to the doc, caus its probably a UTI. My stomach muscles feel like ive done heaps of sit ups, im guessing they got quite stretched when they fill us up with air?
Does anyone else get a little excited when they use the opk? Im like finally - a test where i get 2 lines!! lol
Cant wait to try next cycle to see if anything has changed after the lap
