Hi girlies

Im 28+2 with my 3rd baby boy

I got told i had "irritable uterus" with my other little man in 2008, basically its where you get mild and general tightenings every day. I had braxton hicks daily from 14 weeks with him..... this time round with my 3rd little man ive had them all the time since 21weeks + they are so annoying and uncomfortable, they dont "hurt" but bump goes so tight, and they are a bit more uncomfy than previous pregnancy....anything triggers them even walking around, bubs movements, getting out of bed, turning over in bed :growlmad:

i was in hospital the other morning getting monitored as i was getting them every 10 mins,

anyone else getting them like this??? they are so annoying :( :(

I'm not getting them quite as often as that, but I do get them all day long. Makes me think (along with the fact that he's huge) that I may not make it to my scheduled section date, but we'll see! Yes, they are quite annoying sometimes... they take my breath away, which is uncomfortable.

Ps) Had them since 20 weeks... maybe even a little earlier. This is my 2nd pregnancy.

Make sure you are drinking a lot of water!.....dehydration will cause the
uterus to become irritable and contract.

Im exactly the same on ly difference is this is my first pregnancy

i get this too but as its my first pregnancy i didnt know wat it meant! i have them nearly constantly, should i be worried?

Me! Me! Me! Me! I have it and to put it bluntly its a royal pain in the a*se...:growlmad: Im the same going upstairs to the loo i get them. Rolling over in bed i get them just moving seems to set them off. I have also found that when i do the school run i have one continious tightning! Its really uncomfortable and sometimes for me painfull. This is baby 4 for me and def my last. I was also monitored in hospital for the same thing. I drink loads of water so im not dehydrated but it makes me go pee more so in turn i have the tightnings anyway.:dohh:

thanks girlies im glad im not alone with the blooming things!!!!

first of all :hugs: ((((((((((( Hugs)))))))))))))))) as they are so annoying!!

Natasja - thats what i get with them, in fact for the last hour or so my bump has been rock hard all ive been doing is tottering about upstairs

congo - they are nothing to worry about really it is just your womb tightening - they cant trigger labour or anything like that :hugs: i know what you mean about the worry though

if anything its just our wombies exercising lol and could help with labour. :D :D

i got them in my first pregnancy 12 years ago but not as regular as i have done this time round or with Lewis in 2008

also when i need the loo TMI i get more of them they are so strange....

I have the same thing and been into hospital last week was told i had an 'irritable uterus' I get tightenings esp when I exercise, drive the car, or move about a lot. Im hoping its nothing to worry about too

Yeah I had this with my first baby as well.. They are starting to get more intense now, much stronger and tighter, I get them very regularly throughout the day. I'm kinda glad, at least I know my body is getting some good practice in and plus my LO wont be to scared when the big day comes because she'll be used to being squeezed! Poor thing!

I am getting this too! I was starting to get worried and then I found this thread

I get it every day after eating, and am starting to get it now just from walking around/turning over in bed.

I will mention it to MW next week, am glad it is nothing to worry about.

Well after a comment a student midwife made to me yesterday at a check up, I am beginning to realise some 'movements' I think have been in fact BH. She was saying how good my stomach muscles must be, and I must have been doing lots of crunches before.... err no! Not me! Because my stomach was quite hard. Then the 'proper' midwife said it could be the tail end of a BH. I think I was expecting to feel something all over with BH, but it's normally just at the lower half I feel something, then it goes tight all over. Having realised this, then yes I have been getting them quite regularly.

ive got an irratible uterus aswell lol only thing is mine are sore the mw told me bascially its the pain that makes them different from braxton hicks because contractions from an irratable uterus are the same as you get in early labour except it does nothing to your cervix so you dont need to worry about premmie labour and that these could last the rest of the pregnancy or go away as quick as they came...mine started because i got sick and dehydrated in week 35 xx

I get them all the time too. Exactly the same as you described! I was also told I have an irritable uterus. Is there any connection with this and pre term labour.

hi girlies

no rensben there is no connection to pre-term labour, nor can they start off labour (unless you are due lol)

it is just your womb excercising, nothing to do with your cervix opening. They are meant to be good too for actual labour,

i was told the same thing at about 25 weeks,
it really is extremely annoying and always comes back regardless of what i do
i confused irritability for actual contractions, and took a couple trips to l&d till they finally explained it was uterine irritability.

Im getting braxton hicks all the time - every day! I went in to hospital one morning too as they felt painful and were every 10 minutes - no-one has said anything to me about an irritable uterus though??

Hi Jen!

I'm glad you started this thread, I've been getting the same thing and it was starting to worry me. The tightenings aren't painful but they are quite strong, and I get them every day at the moment. I like the idea that it's the uterus practicing for labour. Thanks for helping to put my mind at rest!

I hope the rest of your pregancy is getting easier now!

hi hun, yeh mine are very strong at times, i cant believe how hard my bumpie goes!! they are strange things arent they   sometimes i can even see the outline of little mans bum or head or something it goes that tight!!! i was the same with Lewis

Nobody has labeled me - but by your description, I'd say I have it for sure! I get them constantly this time around! Thought I was going into preterm labor a week or 2 ago.

They have lessened up since I have been drinking more though! But I still get them constantly - and from everything you described - walking, turning, eating, etc....
