anyone else WTT til Christmas (Dec/New Years)

A log cabin sounds sooo cozy. I have this dream of having a little homey cottage somewhere, and OH dreams of a mansion, lmao. I told him he can have his mansion, and I will live next door in my cottage, and we can build a tube connecting the houses so he can visit when he wants. I refuse to clean a mansion!

Hi, Just wanted to say hello! We're trying from the 1st December, although don't ovulate until around about the 14th of December (according to last 7 months of dates)- which means I'll be hoping for a NYE BFP!!

Can't wait- it's not long now!! (Although this ridiculously warm weather is making Christmas seem like a long time away! lol) Apparently it's only 84 sleeps until xmas! :D

xxx

Mansion? Definitely a Hell no in cleaning that idea. The model we're eyeballing is pretty big. Reminds me of something you'd find in Colorado, high ceilings, huge ski-windows. Loving it. It'll be it's own brand of bitch to clean though LOL! I'm loving the cottage idea too though! So homey and quaint! Just give him a man cave and he'll bend to your will on that one ;)

5_year_plan: AWWW!!!! Welcome aboard!!!!! a New Years BFP would be ADORABLE!!!!

Oh yes, the man cave is a must. We're far from building our own homes, though. We don't even know where we want to settle down yet! We hate the town we're in and I refuse to put our children in the schools here. We can have the baby here and live here for a little while to save (Because it is DIRT CHEAP to live here) and then we can buy a house later on, probably in the city closer to our favorite family members lol. But maybe someday I can have my cottage!

oooo I hear ya. I wouldn't want to put my child through school here either. Then again the alternative is school up in Canada and frankly I'm not familiar with that system, but I'm fairly confident in my ability to supplement education through learning more at home. The good news is that unlike schools down here, there shouldn't be gang wars in middle school. I only wish I was joking and we're supposed to have an A rated school district.

We have gangs here too. In fact there was a shooting in June where a gang shot and killed a little 5 year old boy in front of his mother and step-father, and ended up shooting and majorly injuring five people (including those parents). All because or some verbal back and forth. I hate this town. Did I mention that shooting was literally three blocks away from my house?! I feel like I'm in the ghetto!

Holy cow... I'd freak. We live out in the middle of nowhere, it's very rural but the problems just don't end. It's 100% not the ghetto as the farms around here are high dollar horse farms but still! The kids are hoodlums! There's just no safe place anymore it seems :(

Cabins and cottages - I love both! My house is sort of like a little cottage but in the city. It is not too big, not too small but just right...it doesn't seem capable of cleaning itself though which is most disappointing! The lady that lived in our place before we bought it is an artist and she painted the most beautiful mural in her LO's bedroom. It is amazing! So the room is pretty much ready, just need to fill it!

School here in Canada is pretty great, from what I heard it quite different than the US system. We don't have gangs in the schools as far as I am aware...it is pretty tame up here. There are always going to be bullies in any school but I have never heard of any gun or knife crime in the schools in Edmonton. If you have any questions about the city at all let me know!

Another BNB friend just told me in my journal that I should move up to Canada lol. I just need to convince my OH... muahaha.
I actually don't think we'll be able to for a long time, though. His mom has Polycystic Kidney Disease and is in surgery at least once a month because of complications from when she got the kidneys out, and he doesn't want to be too far from her in case anything horrible happened (which I completely understand!). I've always wanted to move to Washington but he thinks even that is too far (it's only one state away!). I really hate living in California though and I feel like we will never get out of here! It just feels so suffocating to think about. :( I know I'd miss my family more than anything in the whole world, because they are mostly here in California, but I want to start my life somewhere new... blah! Frustrating!

I teach high school in Canada (BC) and I can definitely tell you it is one of the best systems in the world

Our province has been chronically under-funded for over a decade so the quality of education has gone down...don't even get me started on that! But otherwise we have awesome teachers, a great curriculum, a lot of support for students and great kids!

I have no worries at all about my future LO's entering Canadian/BC public schools!

That is also great to hear, as I hope to be a teacher in the future. :)

I don't know about you guys but Christmas feels like an awfully long time away...it is really bumming me out the last couple of days. I am so busy at the moment, which is great, but I just wish it would all just fly by.

Do you all have things you are looking forward to in the next couple of months to get you through? October is looking good (Canadian Thanksgiving, then our 7 year anniversary, and one of the bands I'm in is playing some really fun shows, then Halloween...) but November looks like an empty boring long month. I feel like I am going to go absolutely crazy. AHHHHHH!!!!

Sorry...I'm feeling very worked up about it all right now...

October I have horse shows and Halloween. November I have more horse shows and Thanksgiving (American). So I do have SOME stuff to keep me occupied between now and then.

I'm really glad to hear that the school systems up there are really good. We're going to be in northwestern Alberta and I've been following some of the local schools. My DH was born and raised in that same town so he's gone through that system and so has his sister. So I suppose it's good, seeing how they've come out quite well. I'm just 100% for education and extended education etc. It's a big thing for me as a potential mother especially.

Whereabouts are you moving to? Northwest...hmmm...that is where I went to school! just North of Edmonton actually. Education is so so important...well done for thinking about it so early on! DH and I went for a walk the other night and passed a few different schools in a few neighborhoods and we were trying to decide which one we would send our kids to...it won't be the one that is closest to our house (which is too bad in a way!) but at least we will still be able to walk them to school!

Are you going to move your horses up here? Sounds like they are are a pretty big part of your life!

Right near Mayerthorpe/Green Court area! You and DH are so cute picking schools and the what not! I'd be tickled pink if I could walk my kids to school :)

The horses are definitely coming with me. They're my silly world and my therapy. All bad things go away when I'm with them :) I know it sounds completely psychotic, but it's the truth. I just feel at peace working with them even if it's just sitting on the ground in their paddock watching them graze for awhile.

You're definitely psychotic. :p
Nah - I feel the same around my animals. Especially my cats at my mom's house. My silly OH is sitting here reading everything I type and reading it aloud to me. I should slap him, hahaha.

LOL! They cal lit "horse crazy" I think. I was infected with that illness when I was like 2. My mother blames My Little Pony and Fashion Star Fillies and Breyers like no tomorrow :dohh:

Animal people are the best people. Of this I am ABSOLUTELY certain.

... Flick him in the nose when he does that. Have to train them men! ;) :haha:

Nothing wrong with being a crazy horse lady, I am pretty much a crazy cat lady! I love my 2 little kittens so much, so does DH...we find ourselves having full on conversations with the kittens and then will look at each other and say 'what the F is wrong with us!!'.

You will be in good company with horse lovers out in Mayerthorpe, there are a lot of farms out that way! Nice area because you will be in the country but still not too far from the city if you ever need to get there. How very exciting! Are you building or buying out there?

Hope you ladies had a good weekend. I am recovering from too much good food over our thanksgiving long weekend!

mmmm Thanksgiving. So good. Can't wait for American Thanksgiving. Happy happy joy joy!

We're going to rent for a bit, possibly with an option if we can find a farm etc. I do want to build and that's the goal. We're looking for something close to town, but with enough land that we can do the horse thing, plant a hay field, plant a pumpkin field, have a personal garden, and have enough land left over for recreational use and possibly wildlife rehab for injured large Cervidae like deer, elk, moose etc as well as predator species like bobcats, coyotes, etc. A lot of times animals hit by cars or discovered in illegal snares are able to be rehabbed, but they wind up being euthanized due to a lack of places to take them (or hauled off to become dinner illegally) so we'd be happy to give them a temporary home. I have my wildlife license down here when I used to own pet skunks, wolf hybrids etc. Would be nice to give back to the environment. Good karma.

I talk to the horses and dogs... Constantly. It's kind of silly, but it works. They all respond in their own way ;) Hooray for crazy animal people!

A wildlife rehab sounds like an amazing plan RosesofTin, I agree completely with you about giving back to the environment. We live in the city and had a little garden for the first time this year but I'm hoping that next year I can at least double it in size. Was very pleased at how well my squash grew, I have enough to feed an army!

I have lived in Alberta almost whole life (except for 4 years when I lived in England) and have never seen a moose. Can you believe that!? My brother and dad see them all the time but I have never been so lucky...tonnes of deer and elk though!
