My ob's dad is a chiropractor and he told me last week I needed to be seen for my hip popping every time I walk and for carpal tunnel so I asked if his dad would see me being this far gone and he said yeah and he'd probably put me into labor. Well I called and made an appointment for tomorrow and his dad said it could cause labor. My question is how? Anyone have any idea?

I don't know anything about chiro, but I know massage therapists can use pressure points that are supposed to help start labor. Or that's at least what I hear!

I know acupuncture really works to induce labor but never heard of Chiro

I don't know what can cause it but I believe this can happen, I went to a chiro for the first time about two weeks ago and after I got aligned my BH got way more intense and more frequent, after a few days and everything loosened back up they went back to normal. I don't know what he did, or what it did to my insides but man I thought I was going to go into preterm labor after that alignment.

I see a chiropractor twice a week and I love it!! Best decision I've made and only wish that I would have went sooner and also with my other pregnancies.

My chiropractor does all his adjusting and then also does what is called the Webster Technique (google it if you are not sure). My baby was breech which that technique helps with but my chiropractor is continuing to do this technique to help keep everything aligned and relaxed to make an easier, less painful and faster birth.

Each time I go, I do notice that my baby goes even farther down into the pelvis making it harder to walk due to lots of added pressure (especially in the last two weeks). This is a good thing tho...it means what he is doing is working. Of course seeing him twice a week hasn't put me into labor...but I don't doubt that it will help my body go into labor earlier then if I didn't go see him at all.

Leia, it's me Annika from the group, I know I already told you this on a FB post, but just repeating it again in case any other ladies on the site was wondering.

I've had my 2nd session with my chiro today. Initially I started going to see him for some upper body tingling, but even though that has gone away now, I really do want to keep seeing him until I finally go into labor. My first session with him he did mention that his procedures could induce me because of the hormone called "relaxin," that will be released from the body, it's the same one that is released during breastfeeding too. The reason for this potentially working is due to your body being relaxed, less tense, and less stressed. Of course like most natural induction methods, it will only work if baby is really ready.

My chiro has also realigned my spine, my hips, my pelvis, and my neck, which he said will help open my hips and pelvis more for labor and birth, which is a plus in my eyes. In just one session he had said that my baby has dropped more as before we wasn't engaged at all, and even if it doesn't send me into labor, my god, I've probably had the best sleep I've had in months! Even with a giant belly in the way. I feel entirely relaxed, and life restored to me, where as before I was comparable to a zombie, and in general, am feeling so much better both physically and emotionally. So any ladies, if you are thinking of seeing a chiro, I'd highly suggest one that specializes in prenatal care. There's no guarantee that it will send you into labor, but having your spine, hips and pelvis aligned for a better birth is enough of a reason for me to go in itself! And the better sleep is a huge plus too!

Thanks everyone :) annika I totally forgot about the Facebook post lol silly prego brain
. After months of no sleep I really hope it will help I'm so exhausted and I can't even hardly walk but I am nervous about it hurting when he does my hands they almost hurt worse than the hips

I have been seeing a chiro regularly for the last year and he's not mentioned anything about sending me into labour - my next adjustment is booked for 38 weeks to align my pelvis for birth
